I agree with him. A lot of people think the policies were forced but they really weren't. No one has to buy an xbox one. I think what ruined the whole thing is that microsoft knew gamers were attached to their physical media and tried to join discs to the whole steam model. Yes I know there are still pc discs. But pc gamers buy their games primarily online. I work in retail and the pc game section doesn't get bought until they go on sale or clearance.

Used games do eat up sales. Someone buys the game, beats it, sells in a week to gamestop for (being generous) $20. Someone else buys it for $55 (you know it's true) does the same and back to gamestop for let's say $15. And for arguments sake the third guy buys it and keeps it, thinking he cheated the $60 price tag by buying it for $50. That is 3 copies that could have been sold by developers. Also I could be wrong, but I don't remember there being a huge pc section at gamestop. The 24 hour check in was the only way to keep people from downloading the game and selling it back, and probably the only way developers were on board with it.

Sorry for the long post. No one has to agree with me or Carmack but don't bash people for their opinions. We can disagree without name calling. Reply if you like I probably won't stay on this article. And yes I know my profile pic is halo, it is one of my favorite games but people can own multiple systems/handhelds. Whatever your next gen console of choice, we all win.

@singass Once you get your power back you'd be fine and if it did go out for 2 weeks the console wouldn't be your first worry. Maybe lack of AC in the summer all your food in the fridge and freezer spoiling and no electricity at night.

And no the playstation eye isn't the Move, it can work with it but it is seperate.

I try not to comment too many times because usually anything and everything said turns into a flame war but reading alot of the comments below makes me really disgusted. Not everyone is going to agree but flat out disrespecting each other is bs. So what if some of us aren't bother by these restrictions. That is our choice.

But what people need to understand is wording. Microsoft said after 24 hours it won't work UNTIL you log on again. So no if I go on vacation I'll be fine. Sony said "PS4" would not put restrictions on games, that doesn't mean publishers can't or won't like microsoft said they'd be leaving it to.

As for the whole privacy thing the kinect sensor can be paused and the "xbox on" disabled. Also that is one camera, PS4's eye has 2 cameras, 4 microphones and is able to monitor how many people are in the room and where they are located in proximity to the PS4. Don't see much of a difference.

Lastly (sorry for the long post) alot of the innovative cloud tech requires a connection to work since it is online tech. Yeah, you can play a single player game but what if it utilizes cloud tech? Alot of these games are hoping for seamless open worlds and there is a good chance they will depend on the cloud.

Whatever the case, it does not benefit anyone for any one of the 3 consoles to outright fail, competition means prices staying competitive. Anyway, if you want to bash me for my opinion fine. I probably won't even return to this page. I just think people should wait until we have all the facts.

I agree that he shouldn't bash people for defending their console but didn't you just do the same? Also surprised you had nothing to say about the ps3. And if we are talking about fun, aren't you the guy who wrote that you broke your gamepad even though you have bigger than average hands? That doesn't sound like fun. I have a 360 a psp and a ds and the next thing im getting hopefully (no not a wii U) is a 3ds.

People need to stop bashing each other and just enjoy playing. Yeah the 360 shouldn't make people pay for xbox live but I haven't had a problem online yet and $3.33 a month isn't a problem for me (i buy 12 months on sale for $40 all the time, I didn't make a mistake with the math), and yeah the wii u shouldnt take up 5gb. But you know what? What ever floats your boat to have you keep gaming and making the market competitive is okay with me.

Meltdown hasn't been too bad when it comes to vehicle battles. The tight spaces seem to balance the mech usage. In Ragnarok it feels like whichever team has the most vehicles yet to be destroyed controls the map and the match.
