@JMcN76 Most of what is being said was speculation from the previous press conference. Id wait till E3 for more solid info. Till then you can read http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license

Should get rid of most of those rumors and concerns. No fees. multi use license for up to 10 people, on disc or digital. The discs only use will be to install the game anyway.

Last I read the camera and mic can be disable in all but kinect only games were obviously the kinect is required.

As said before once every 24 hours the xbox will sync the system to the cloud to check for updates and new game licenses or changes to current licences. Ex. you bought or sold a game.

@spindie I think in one way you are right. This is a console war this time around, but not in the way all the fanboys think. Its not about Sony vs MS. Its about how relevant consoles are as a gaming system, and how that fits into everyone's living room. Its about how the buying consumers feel about the entertainment device they a putting there. Cloud gaming/computing, universal accounts with your game, music, movie licenses tied to them. PCs have gone this direction for some time now. Microsoft is just taking the step to tie this all together. I dont see Sony doing it much differently. Honestly IF they do, I think theyll lose out a large, large number of sales to new potential customers who dont just play games.

These devices are moving well beyond a simple "Game box" and into something entirely different. Call it a PC if you want but i dont know too many families with a PC in their living room with voice control and the ability to act as a DVR, blu-ray, social media, gaming, etc. Theyre trying to bring all the things we do into one device and one room.

People need to leave the apple mentality behind, the whole one device for one task thing is what is broken. You need an ipod to play your music, and iphone to communicate, and ipad for...? what do people need those for anyway(but you need one still right), an ibook for mobile computing, and an imac for desktop work.

@untouchables111 Gaming went mostly digital on the PC many years ago with the release of Half-Life2. The console gamers are just now feeling the shift. Just like when it happened on PC everyone is crapping their pants. Every game I have purchased digitally or not is backed up via my steam account now. If my discs are lost or stolen... who cares I still own the license. Meaning I can still play my games.

Can we count on MS to act like Valve and Steam when it comes to prices... currently I would say no, but optimistically I would like to think their new platform lends itself to this method.

@northArrow @Splincir @realryupt @ramb1402 I could be wrong but if the game does not require kinect the option is there to disable it, is it not?

to clarify, kinect sports obviously made for kinect would require it. Modern warfare 343252 for example would not and as such could be turned off if you so choose.

@ominous_prime @noirtenshin @casshan02 Seriously, if people are afraid of privacy issues look no further than facebook. Its a personal info black hole sucking in every bit of data people ignorantly slap on there. Youd also be surprised how much info is gathered from your search engine. Ever notice how adds seem to be perfectly tailored to your recent searches?

Does anyone remember the backlash when Steam was first released with Half-Life 2. The complaining and moaning could be heard worlds away. What's going on here rings the same bell as before. The old adage of history repeats itself fits firmly into this situation. I remember all the same complaints about not owning a physical disc, and not being able to give the disc to your friends, or what most people mean (make copies and return it). If everyone were honest and legitimately purchased all their games many of the "Draconian" DRM attempts we see wouldn't even exist today. TLDR people accepted Steam, hell a lot of people love Steam now. I expect if MS cleans up this policy a little then this will follow the same pattern.
