Well, it's been pretty commonly known among PS3 Rock Band owners now that their version is slightly inferior because of some long-term outstanding bugs.

Just to state a few:
- Les Pauls not working with PS3 Rock Band but apparently compatible with the X360 and PS2 versions
- Glitchy DLC Patching which seems to be PS3 "exclusive" problem that HMX has neglected (having to redownload ALL DLC in order to install the patched DLC)
- Rock Band patch introducing various new fixes and features to the X360 while causing extra slowdown and introducing NEW problems on the PS3

It's no surprise that some PS3 owners would feel that this is some form of preferential treatment...

But, with the release of Rock Band 2 being a timed-exclusive title for the Xbox 360, is this the last straw?

No, it's not the custom themes. This works fine for me and others have confirmed this as well.

I have a feeling that this is just a hoax. Sony's taking it seriously anyway though, since I guess they would want to avoid any real problems if possible.

boo-hoo, "I can't wait THREE minutes for an install" after maybe half an hour of gameplay.

Don't be ridiculous, you could use a break anyway. They do expect 15 minutes of breaktime in between every hour of play, but I guess some people just think they're just too good for that.

For those playing the number game, 1x DVD-read (10.5 Mbit/s) speed is significantly different from 1x Blu-ray-read (32 Mbit/s) speed. The Blu-ray drive might still be slower at 2x but at the very least, the difference in read-speeds is NOT 8-fold in comparison to the X360's 16x drive.

Unfortunately, because Sony decided to jump the gun, we're pretty much stuck with these slower drives. You can't change this with just a firmware update, a whole drive-replacement would be required... And I don't think Sony is quite ready to do that for their userbase.

From what I noticed, the bundles sold out real quick, but not so much the individual copies. The best buy I went to still had at least 10 copies of MGS4.

I'm not.

That doesn't mean I can't be interested in Battlefield as well though.

Sounds like a bogus rumour to me.

I mean, it's entirely possible for full software emulation (heck, there's already an example out there for PCs), but I doubt Sony will put that work into it.

If you were a "videophile", maybe.

Did I just make up a word there? Whoops.

Retailers normally calculate in base 10 as opposed to base 2.

So, when they advertise a HDD as having 40GB capacity (base 10 implied), when you plug it into your computer, don't be surprised to find that it only has about 37.25GB capacity.

I'll try not to dwell into the details but it's got more or less to do with how they might have calculated every GB as 1000000000 Bytes rather than 1073741824 Bytes (depending on how they did the conversions really). It's technically fraud, but maybe there's a loophole somewhere.

Edit:

Actually, as the previous poster has pointed out, they use different prefixes to differentiate the decimal and binary calculations.

KiB (Kibibytes) are calculated as 1024 Bytes
KB (Kilobytes) are calculated as 1000 Bytes
