@kvallyx: I mean it's been over a month and there's currently 151,000 people playing it right now on a Tuesday morning.......with a 24hr peak of 290,000 on steam alone. I think it's fine

Like any live service game the population will peak back up when a major update releases, and we keep getting teased with flying terminids and a new alien race (Illuminate) is already being teased.

I would look at suicide squad and skull and bones for examples of failed live service titles. I am interested to see what the core population of Helldivers 2 will be a year from now

@WitIsWisdom: Part of the problem is that publishers want every game they release to be the next GTA or fortnite. And those just aren't reasonable expectations, and it shouldnt be what the industry strives for as a standard.

Make a good game, and they will play. Respect the players and they will stay.

I feel like Helldivers 2 is a perfect example of this. (Still waiting to see if the stay part is true for that game)

@TheEroica: I think the steam top player count yesterday was 333,000, all time peak. Then another 300,000 on PS. Developers are saying Pc and PS sales are 1:1 with over 1 million sold.

Makes me wonder if the servers had more capacity if the peak would get close to 1 million

Here it is!

https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/helldivers-2-review-starship-bloopers/1900-6418184/

I did not think the game would score so highly due to the server capacity issues, but the actual game seems to be very solid.

I've been playing this almost every day since it came out. It's a very refreshing feeling compared to other Live Service games. I don't feel pressured or bothered to purchase any additional content.

AAA PS Console exclusive to start the year off for PlayStation.

What say you fellow system warriors? Will you be picking this up?

Ahhh the results are in for having gaming budgets over 300 million dollars... And it's abysmal. Keep waiting everyone, but don't worry too much the game will play exactly the same as the last one... Wish I could push a button and reset the industry sometimes.

we need more AA Games from AAA publishers. Let the devs be creative and try new things

So Im confused, I thought it was ESTABLISHED IPs, meaning the window was open for new IPs to release this year.

Either way this year if front loaded anyway with Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, and Rise of Ronin. I think gamers will be fine

@mrbojangles25: Shame. Looks like a fun game, but when I found out about its anti-cheat, and then the login issues, I noped outta the game.

I played it all day on steam deck yesterday and it ran .... They'll get it figured out. Plenty of gamers will be playing Helldivers 2 for a long time, just like the first game.

That's what Im excited about. The first game had a dedicated community, and I can see 2 having the same type of community but much larger.
