Y’all are nuts. I’ve never seen a group of “hardcore” enthusiasts bitch about spending money on their hobby like this. That’s like a car enthusiast refusing to pay for gas or tags and title on a car.

But that's not a good analogy, when you buy a car you own the car. You can choose to drive it, sell it, or let is sit in your garage. Just because the dealership goes out of business they can't come and take your car.

With these streaming services you don't own anything. If they company goes under or decides to shut down the service there goes your games

$0.

I don't want any sub service. I'd rather own the disc or DD on my console/computer

This is really hard, I'm sure I'm missing games and it probably changes a lot outside the top 5 or so. I also tried to limit series entries except for a few. My favorite gen was the ps2 era and a lot of games come from that.

1. Metal Gear Solid 3

2. Devil May Cry 3

3. Yakuza 0

4. Castlevania SOTN

5. Rachet and Clank Going Commando

6. Socom 3 US Navy Seals

7. Battlefield 2

8. Jak 2

9. Metal Gear Solid 4

10. GTA Vice City

11. Sonic 2

12. RayStorm

13. DMC 1

14. Metal Gear Solid 1

15. Star Wars Demolition

16. Twisted Metal 2

17. Fallout 3

18. Golden Eye N64

19. Super Mario 64

20. Streets of Rage 2

21. Battle toads Genesis

22. God of War PS4

23. Spiderman PS4

24. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Original)

25. Hydro Thunder (Arcade or Dreamcast)

Yakuza 0. Then Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2

This. Zero is the best place to start for newcomers, then just go in numerical order with the Kiwami remakes of 1 & 2.

If you by chance want more after Kiwami 2 , presumably remasters of 3-5 are coming to the west, but otherwise on the PS4 there's additionally Yakuza 6, Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (also made by the same studio), and if you're wiling to import, Yakuza Ishin (which is secretly maybe the best game in the series).

This is the best answer.

And after you play all those games you could check out the Shenmue HD collection. Yakuza is considered a spiritual successor to the Shenmue series

I say 8/10 now

they started out pretty bad but made up for it with dropping Kinect, Game Pass, BC, and releasing most of their exclusives to PC. Heck if they would have started out with all that it might be a tighter race in the console wars.

But I can see people skipping Xbox this gen and they wouldn't miss out on too much. Compared to the PS4 and Switch something seems off about the Xbox One....and I think it has to do with worthwhile exclusives

We need to see more small budget A-AA games coming from big Studios....I feel like only SEGA is doing this (Yakuza series etc.)

Back in the PS2 era and before; big studios would make arcade style games or small scale games with some neat concepts. Where are my hydro thunders? Jet set radios? Tony Hawk games? Crazy Taxis?

It seems like every big studio/publisher wants their game to be the next fortnight but that isn't realistically possible.

I don't see the big issue. 2019 so far.

  • Steep
  • Portal Nights
  • For Honor
  • Hitman First Season
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered
  • The Witness
  • Conan Exiles
  • The Surge
  • What Remains of Edith Finch
  • Overcooked
  • Borderlands The Handsome Collection
  • Sonic Mania
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2019
  • Horizon Chase Turbo

5 more months to go.

They could probably throw in a PSVR game every other month.

This isn't a bad list of games and people need to stop complaining, it would be different if we were getting indie or AAA titles that scored horribly but a lot of these are great games even if they don't have "mass" appeal.

Everything in bold I've played quite a bit already, so I feel like I've got my money's worth. Sonic Mania alone is almost worth the entire price of Plus.

Everything in Italics are games I was interested in before they were announced for plus, but didn't want to pull the trigger to buy them, now I don't have to!
