@evil_snuggles The PS1 couldn't compete with the N64's specs either, but the PS1 outsold it almost 4 to 1. YES SPECS DO NOT MATTER. they just don't. History has proven this time and time again.
@enoslives7 It's a shame, Nintendo have been very successful in their early years, they even saved the gaming industry during the crash. Thing is they can't really compete in this next generation. I think going third party is really the only way to boost their sales which would be a great step up from the 360 and the PS3 but still would be out showed by the XB1 and the PS4.
@Gamerhomer @StarlightHunter It's personal preference, but Sony's success is the reason why I'm leaning towards getting a PS4. I wouldn't just of of specs alone.
@Gamerhomer @StarlightHunter It's because Sony had more developer support, a better control scheme, exclusives etc. Yes they do have a great reputation, but they also proved that specs don't win a generation, software, developers, and firmware does. A console is just a device.
@Gamerhomer @StarlightHunter You missed the point. The PS2 was less powerful than all of the other consoles in that generation yet it was the best selling console of all time. The PS2 literally defined specs don't mean anything.
@warrner11 Yes comparing specs is meaningless. The N64 was 100% yes TWICE as powerful as the PS1 and despite this, the PS1 outsold it. In previous generation, The Original Xbox, the NGC and the DC were all also more powerful than the PS2, but that didn't stop the PS2 from being the best selling console of all time. The Wii had little more power then the NGC had and it nearly outsold both the 360 and the PS3 COMBINED. It's not about power, or hardware. Even PC's which are 4-5 times more powerful than the current consoles are the minority. It's about PR, it's about software, it's about making your console/device stand out from the crowd by offering something unique. If people really want raw power, save up £3000-5000 and get a top range gaming PC.
