if parents want to shield their kids from violence then close them off from the world and never let them out of the house...which basically means zero exposure to anything meaningful in life as a result.

I blame the killer, Adam Lanza. I don't blame violent video games, movies, music. Some humans are prone to violence and everyone needs to realize that.

@thstratton It's naive to think any human is flawless regardless of the achievement any human may achieve. Washington had his faults, so did Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin. I wouldn't call them hypocrites per se, more like men who didn't always practice what they preach. The only American figure I'd say lived his life with a high degree of virtue was MLK Jr...he practiced what he preached and it is hard to find his faults.
