Very good video but I feel you missed an underlying point. Games can not evolve when we have allowed the suits to completely control all IP. There was a time when game developers created games to make the most enjoyable game possible. Now all that is focused on is meeting the deadline. We are getting to a point when we are saturated with sequels and remastered remakes. This same trend is seen in Hollywood which leaves the last good movie made from the 90's & early 2000's. (Even Music) If you look at a games budget that wins GOTY you will see a trend. Which is more money = best game.
This idea limits creativity. An example would be the person with the most plastic surgery is the most beautiful person. The extra money spend to cover up and improve a person can be paradoxically similar to the amount of money used to cover up and improve a game. The difference hear is the rinse and repeat effect. Sure Assassins creed story and play style has improved over every iteration, but have they done anything really to improve how we play the game. In your video you almost imply the question do they need to do anything to really change it up when the game is enjoyable? This answer is debatable but there is no denying that more and more people are getting burned out on these games that do not look to improve on relatively the same gameplay, but rather just make the same known gameplay the best they can. Example Destiny, an enjoyable experience, gameplay wise doing everything perfect but feels like an empty game.
I agree we have reached the highest known pinnacle of games at this very moment. Have we though??? It is a tough pill to digest but the now current gen games on the PS4 and X1 have yet to really impress. I mean sure games are being released on these counsel, but nothing I could not have imagined playing on the PS3 or 360. That to me is where the problem lies. Because money and the year to year profits are the only thing the suits care about. The PS4 and X1 need to show case a game and experience that truly can only be played on those devices.
It is going on a year and the only thing these new counsels have showed me is what they can't do while hiding behind slightly upgraded visuals that are Nothing more than a two year upgrade to a PC's GPU. These improved graphics are nothing more than a Photoshop Nose job and a tummy tuck. It is time to really make a game where the game play shines and the technology is on full display.
