I'm a bit confused about the dual core extreme vs quad core thing. I understood that quard core was worth waiting for in a gaming notebook, but noticed on the voodoo site when outfitting a computer, choosing dual core extreme, it's actually more expensive than the quad.

I'm having trouble finding a really great gaming laptop. THe latest Dells (1730's) have been out a while and I'm worried if I get one there will be a new model out 2 weeks later :P

Need some guidance if anyone has any to give - thanks!

There is this, but i'd like more options to compare.

while there isn't much software to take advantage of quad-core it shoudl help overall performance in (groan) Vista.

Hi there

I love to find old games form my childhood and reminice, but there is one arcade game I can find NO evidence of and it almost seems I imagined it (but i didn't)

In this arcade game you were a wizard with a sword and would fight around a static screen (no scrolling) - the gimmick was that the sword would swivel using a knob for control. Circa 1985-ish

i seem to remember the word "castle" or "wizard" being in the name.

If anyone knows what game this was/is, it would put years of wondering to rest.

thanks!
Steve

i do need a laptop cause I carry my office on my back and travel for work fairly often. A quad-core laptop does seem the way to go. I guess I'll have to do some research. I'll post anything good i find.

Hi there

I am about to get a new gaming laptop and am getting a bit foggy on the difference between the XPS systems and Alienware. Seems like there is a lot of overlap at this point?

Not sure which one is better to go with right now overall.

Also, is there a quad-core mobile chip on the horizon and if so, should i wait? Hate investing in a new rig at the wrong time!

thanks for any input!

yep I took everyone's advice and ordered a couple of cables (for like 3 bucks each!) off of monoprice and will return the overpriced radioshack one once they arrive. there's something annoying about radioshack anyway. I think it's all the useless gadgets they sell (and the prices are too high).

thanks for all the help everyone!

Hey there

I just got a new plasma (this one) and am a little scared of burn-in. My set has some fearues to protect but i don't know how well they work.

For example, if I watch CNN, the logo is at the same place on the screen for long, extended periods of time and I'm worried it'll burn in. How do ppl with plasmas watch CNN or other networks that do this?

Not sure how serious the burn-in issue really is anymore but want to be careful in case.

Any input appreciated.

thanks!
