Following up on HDMI propoganda:

I stopped by both Best Buy and Radio Shack- they both insisted the higher-priced monster cables would produce a better image for tv and gaming due to bandwidth, plating, etc.

My head was swimming, but I ended up getting this, which was the cheapest hdmi radio shack had to offer. I tend to believe the people here over the ppl trying to sell my stuff, so if you tell me this cable is as good as the $100 monster cable, i'll keep it! otherwise, i'll go return it!

thanks =)

Thanks for all the info! Really helpful.

I've just had a friend make me worry because he says I should have gone LCD due to the plasma tendancy to burn in - but i had understood this was less of an issue now. Any idea if I need to take any precautions with my tv (above)?

thanks again

HI there

I am investing in a new home theatre and just bought a plasma and was hoping to get some guidance on cables for the PS3 I am getting along with it. i was looking at these but am hearing that the price is too high and the diff in quality doesnt justify the high price.

Can someone help me select the best (and well priced) hdmi cables for the PS3 as well as my HD DVR? All the components are close to each other so i don't need very long cables.

Also, I am good with technology in general but have never set up a hd plasma and hd components. Is it the sort of thing i need to bring someone in to tweak to best quality picture or should i be able to handle it on my own?

thanks much for any input!!

1. The HDMI makes a huge difference. One it allwos for enhanced settings you can't get with any other connection. Two, it allows for PS1, PS2, and DVD upscaling. Three, its the only true digital output from the PS3 or any console. You can find cables for $20-$30 that are great quality. No sense in spending near that same amount for components.

I was going to get these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8362602&st=ps3+hdmi+cable&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1177717628338

I'm still getting up to speed on HDMI cables - don't know the real value difference with the different speed features, etc. thanks for the feedback!

I was riding the fence for quite some time but with Blu Ray's dominance i am getting a PS3 this week. I had a couple of questions for those of you more in the loop on the system:

1 - i plan to get the ps3 hdmi cables. how much of an enhancement visually is this over component? I have a full HD 50" plasma.

2 - what are the strongest MP and RPG games out there?

3 - any other advice for peripherals or inital set up?

thanks for any info!!

I've only been looking at 2000 and 4000 hour models so far. I also don't get to game like I used to due to working so much, so it's not a big concern.

Is this a feasable evolution of the Xbox now that HD DVD is a goner? I remember hearing about a blu-ray add on to the Xbox 360, but I'd like to see one integrated - if that's even feasible. Don't like plugging in extras.

I was about to buy one, but think I might hold on to see what happens.

Hey there

I'm about to move into a new place and thought I might skip the whole tv route and instead install a DLP projector (HD) and project onto a wall to have a massive viewing area.

Problemn is I am having trouble picking a projector. The home theatre ones go up to $10,000+, but I'd really prefer to spend ax $1200 or so. I know the important aspects: LUMENS, resolution, etc, but wondered if anyone had a good pick for a home projector that can project at least 720p.

Thanks for any info!

We're in the lucky spot of having so many great new games out right now. Like a lot of working and otherwise busy people out there, I only have time for one. Can anyone who has played both break down the strengths/weaknesses and differences between the 2? I am sure it would be helpful for a lot of people.

I personally lean towards games with lots of customization and rpg elements.

Thanks for any info!
