I am not making fun of Wii or anything, but PS3 is exactly in the same position...yet PS3 gets made fun of. So Wii still has problems in my eyes.

PS3 gets hit harder, because of the reason you listed and it's not selling nearly as good as Sony anticipated, 6 million untis for one year on a Sony console is laughable. But see Wii is actually selling out, with its horrible library, so yeah, there you go.
Mass appeal is the key.
Soon, good hardware sales will equate to good third-party support. It would be silly as a developer not to put time and effort into releasing quality titles onto the system. Not to do so would be practically throwing money away.
Oh, and Wii has a horrible library? Maybe third party needs to pick up the slack, but as far as first party is concerned, I'd say releasing a major franchise game each quarter of the the year is pretty awesome, especially considering how sparsely they were placed with the Gamecube.
Finally, I'd like to add this. No one could have predicted that the Wii would have taken off as well as it has, including developers. One of the perks of having mass appeal is that your userbase contains the widest variety of tastes and preferences. That means developers ought to target all types of preferences with the Wii. Yes, there has been a lot of shovelware released on the Wii, but none of it has sold well (except for maybe that crappy carnival game).
So, what can we expect to happen? The same thing that happened to the DS will happen to the Wii. I sold my DS right before it boomed, and I still regret it. DS is getting a lot of quality software as well as casual games too, and there's nothing wrong with that. Developers just need to find the right balance (and how to utilize the potential of the Wiimote).
