@NukleaWorfair: LoL. If the PS3 didn't have a 12:1 sales advantage in Japan, it would have been soundly defeated.
Why do we care about sales (traditionally)? Because more consoles sold = more 3rd part support.
In the markets that mattered for everything except JRPGs, the 360 was the market leader. That's why there were so many "PC360" games that skipped -SKIPPED - the PS3.
Also, the 360 sold a lot more software compared to the PS3 (go look up the attach rates). Game company's revenue and success is tied to software sold, not the consoles (which are sold at a loss).
So, I stick by my comment when I say "the 360 beat the PS3".
Also not factoring in the fact that it took Sony until 2018 to "surpass" the 360 three years after Microsoft ended production of that console, and 5 years after the proper end of that generation.
They continued production for no other reason than to cheesily claim so, even if that unearned "vindication" had a gigantic asterisk next to it. And by a measly 500k units. A smaller gap than the 2 million gap Xbox outsold Gamecube by (and it even ended production before the Gamecube did, instead of continuing to sell for 5 years)
If you got your ass kicked during the game, but you stay in the stadium "scoring" long after the lights go out, everyone leaves, and the janitors are cleaning up, is that a "victory" anyone's proud of?
