These contracts have exit clauses and "kill fees". If Microsoft felt pressed enough about this game, or Ghostwire Tokyo, they could "kill" the PlayStation exclusivity deal at any time by just paying the pre-arranged "kill fee". The fact that they have not speaks volumes.
I assure you If they felt like they needed to, they would have.
Which ones, specifically? Which ones arent in production? Which ones do you think will be cancelled, or next gen?
Name names, bro.
Avowed is still super early. Fable, Indiana Jones, Outer Worlds 2, Project Mara, Hellblade 2, Contraband, Elder Scrolls 6 won't be here for years. Everwild got rebooted, there's still no core gameplay concept. These are all super early titles that have yet to show gameplay. Meaning, it's all up in the air between the teaser reveals and release.
Avowed has been in development for 3 years and 7 months, and was part of Obsidian's pitch to MS during the acquisition talks.
Playground Games started working on Fable in February 2017. It is now in its 5th year.
The 6 other games you mentioned, which I feel I must remind you......is not "most" of the 16 games I listed, are all conjecture made by you.
You still didnt mention which games you believe are going to be cancelled, or are not in full production?
Cows are going to look like burnt-out highschool quarterbacks next year when they're still talking about Returnal and Ratchet & Clank. Hell, at this point, we dont even know if Horizon is this year.
I'll never understand why Cows had this weird fetishization of "1st year" exclusives for no reason than list fodder wars. Like, are you really that proud of 3 or 4 "AA" 80 rated games, and nothing after that but God of War and Horizon? Two games that your PS4 can play just fine?
Its clear at this point the PS5 sold well not because of Returnal, Ratchet, AstroBot, Sackboy, or Kena: Bridge of Spirits. It sold because of PS4 inertia, blind hype, and FOMO.
I can comfortably say, I am in no need of a Playstation 5.
I think its absolutely clear now, why Sony is not attending E3 anymore. Incase that was still in question. That's even if you combine all of PlayStation's State of Plays for the entire year.
Anybody who complained about Xbox's E3 showing, owes everyone here an apology lol.
Granted, that is a game that's available on GP, but the splits have been awful for third party games in general on Xbox. RE:Village and Scarlet Nexus saw a split of 80/20 in favor of Playstation. Maybe a combination of the "Game Pass effect" mixed with the unpopularity of the system. The Game Pass effect being apathetic Xbox owners not buying games thinking the titles will come to the service.. It's only looking to hurt Xbox in the long run.
That is the fault of those publishers not securing a lucritive GamePass deal.
Capcom's fault for taking Sony's "dont be on GamePass for one year" money and signing their contract, as we saw from the Capcom leaks.
Bandai Namco themselves are likely responsible for Scarlet Nexus not being on GamePass. I am certain Microsoft approached them to be on GamePass, and if it were within Microsoft's purview, it would have been on there day one. That's their fault for making the business decision to not put the game there.
What needs to be made absolutely clear at this late stage in the game, is that GamePass is going to be Xbox's primary business model going foreward, and that is not changing. Publishers can frankly either get with it or get fucked. This is neither Microsoft's fault nor their problem. Its the market punishing those publishers for a bad business decision.
Lol @ a Deathloop specific State of Play, and not a full State of Play 🤣
Can we all finally all acknowledge that the reason Sony hasn't been attending E3 is not because Sony is "holding back" or "marching to their own drum and doestnt follow anybody", they simply dont have enough content to fill a proper 90 minute press conference?
Its clear they dont want their showings to be compared against the Xbox E3 showcases. Their brainwashed fanboys (who were all to eager to shit on the Xbox showcase, and also all hate E3 now for some reason) are too far gone to realize that Sony would have had an even worse showing if they had gone. Sony was just to cowardly to show up, and they don't want Microsoft to be able to claim they "won" E3. So they aren't showing up.
It'll be hilarious when we find out Sony isn't having a proper showing for the rest of the year.
@StrongDeadlift: who cares about quick resume. No one plays games like that. This seems more useful after watching the video. It's rare anyone plays games like that anyway.
I use it all the time lol. And I would imagine it would be far more useful for most people than "multitasking", a feature the XboxOne had in 2013 with "snap-mode", a feature Microsoft's own heatmapping and analytics deemed to be irrelevant enough that they eventually got mocked/bullied into removing it years later, and nobody missed it.
Kojima's game will probably use "the cloud" the same way Microsoft Flight Simulator uses it.
I wouldn't even be surprised if Microsoft begins properly branding and licensing that game engine to him, which is just a customized build of the ForzaTech engine. Like Guerrilla Games started doing with Decima Engine after Kojima began working on it. I Imagine if MS is let Asobo develop custom systems and tools for their proprietary in-house game engine, they would let Kojima do it as well.
And if you've seen Flight Simulator and Forza Horizon 5, well.....god damn. With the customizations they're also doing to it to make games like Fable possible, if anyone could make that engine sing, it would be him.
