The same platform that had a brighter future before E3, continues to have a brighter future after E3. The Xbox Series X. Nothing really changed at E3.

We know what Xbox's roadmap for the next 3 years looks like, and even then, a significant enough portion of its first party is still unnacounted for.

We know nothing about Sony's roadmap beyond Horizon and God of War, and outside of Insomniac, all of Sony's studios are accounted for, so who even could make anything else? Expect a 3 year+ sabbatical from NaughtyDog, Sucker Punch, Bend Studios, for example.

They’ll be just fine.

/Thread.

Microsoft has more first party variety than Sony. Sony only focuses on one genre of videogame........3rd Person Action Sad-Ventures with stealth elements.

Theres only so many times you can crouch-walk through "stealth grass", do distraction rock throwing, hoist NPCs up ladders, etc...... Cows only want to play these faux Metal Gear/Far Cry/Ubisoft games.

Sony will never make a game like Prey or Dishonored. Or Avowed.

Lems are trying to make renting games the norm, you can't make this up. I prefer supporting the developer so they can make better sequels. Once they made their money, it can go to Plus or Now. Don't expect anything groundbreaking single player wise. GP business model won't support it. Gamepass can work for lootbox multiplayer experiences like Halo and Redfall but don't expect big budget games like TLOU or GOW to appear day one on a service. Lems can like their McDonald's drive thru experiences, I'll take a steak dinner instead.

Cope.

We got another "support the developer" guy here lol.

As I said in another thread, lets not talk about AAA big budget studios owned by multi-billion dollar publishers as if we're donating to some charity drive, or supporting some starving artists. Yeah, you go ahead and "support" activision so Bobby Kotick can get a bigger yacht 🤣

1. These publishers were compensated hansomely to put their games on GamePass, so they were already "supported".

2. It is not my responsibility as a consumer to play babysitter to the industry. Or to "support" (lol) corporations. It is their job to provide and render a product/service/value to me, and my job to hand them money. I do not owe them anything, and that is the end of our transaction. I am not worried about how Sony is able to financially make this work. I assure you, they're not concerned about how you manage to keep your lights on.

Also, lol @ the cope about "lootbox multiplayer experiences". Microsoft has been loading up on single player games. They literally have 5 different blockbuster WRPGs in development right now, among other genres like open world. MS has more blockbuster single player games in full production right now than Sony, and more than MS has ever had at any point in history.

Meanwhile, its going to be very awkward when NaughtyDog puts out nothing but cross gen Factions 2 support before 2024/2025. And what does Guerilla Games have after CrossGenzen Forbidden West? A rumored Socom game by the R6 Siege director they hired 😁. And dont forget about all those no-name FPS multiplayer devs they partnered with.

If you want to live in 2017 forever and pretend GamePass is just live service GAAS games, I cant stop you, but good god is a reckoning coming.

The fetishization of "owning" games is overrated. As many people ITT have already stated, most games in your library will never be touched again.

The days of me filling up my livingroom with hundreds of worthless plastic boxes that will sit untouched on the shelf for years, some I've only ever even booted up once........that life is DONE for me.

Even weirder are the people who just dump all that shit off at Gamestop for pennies at the end of every gen. Like, what was all that money even for? That is not "big ballin". that is fiscal irresponsibility.

Even weirder than that, are the Cows who hate "old games", but also do all of the above.

As an aside, I'm also going all digital this gen. I hate messing around with discs, and I'd like to take advantage of features like Quick Resume. Imagine every time you wanted to change the TV channel you had to walk to your TV and change a disc. You see how archaic and combersome that is?

EDIT:

I understand that some people are collectors, and more power to them, Im not here to critisize those people, but I am not one of them. I have no interest in collecting or "owning" games, outside of the few I cannot get otherwise.

Just like im not terribly broken up over the fact that I dont own Blu-Ray boxed sets of House of Cards, Orange is the new Black, Stranger Things, Bojack Horseman, Ozark, etc....I've consumed that content and moved on with my life. I bingewatched the entire series of Criminal Minds, then watched Homeland, then watched Billions, in the last 6 months. Again, I dont fly into a fit of rage because I do not "own" them.

Same here. Gamers need to remember that studios are made up of actual human beings who spend thousands of hours making these games. If they do a good job they need to be rewarded.

The entitlement from a certain group that believes every game should be free or $1 is ridiculous.

Y'all sound like a support group trying really hard to justify you spending more while others spend less for the same games. 😂

Apparently its our job to be babysitters to the games industry.

Imagine talking about "supporting" multi-billion/trillion dollar multinational corporations, as if you're supporting some charity food drive, for billion dollar publishers, and venture-cap/institutional investors.

These publishers are not some down-trodden, put-upon mom and pop operations, nor are they "little guys". You have to be so brainwashed to believe that. These developers and publishers are compensated hansomely for putting their games on GamePass, as all of them generally tend to atest to.

It is not my DUTY or my responsibility as a consumer to "support" a studio that is already being compensated by a billion dollar publisher. Fuckouttahere with that. That is the responsibility of that studio's publisher. You really think I care about "supporting" activision, or Ubisoft? Thats not my job. It is THEIR job to create a product or a service and render it to you for profit. Whether they're paid by me or by Microsoft, that's the end of that transaction and the end of responsibility from me.

If Sony cant afford to properly compensate its developers, or compete with GamePass, well.....thats Sony's problem. Sucks to suck. Not my job to keep Sony's lights on.

Tomorrow = 2 weeks of owning my Xbox Series X.

Love the system so far, and I love GamePass.

When I entered this thread, I had trouble figuring out how to answer the question......"what game are you playing this weekend?"

.......as in......oh yeah, there still people out there only playing one or two games at a time? I cant relate breh. I have 28 games installed on my Series X, and only one I paid for, Resident Evil Village. As an aside, Quick Resume is such a convenient feature of the Series X.

I guess I can start with the most recent.......I beat Prey recently, and its one of the best games of last gen IMO. I actually had the game on PS4, but it was in the backlog for a while, and when the Bethesda purchase was finalized, and it recieved FPS Boost, I held off on playing it until the Series X, because I knew it would be on GamePass permanently.

I believe Arcane (along with Obsidian and InXile) is going to be one of the shining stars of Xbox's first party this gen, and cant wait to see OMEN on Sunday, which is supposed to be developed by the Prey team at Arcane. I bought the DLC Prey: Mooncrash, currently playing that. As for whats next.......I literally cannot figure out what to play next. Paralyzed by choice. Plus I still have a huge backlog on PS4. Still havent even started Disco Elysium.

Man, I wish I could relate to these dudes who are apparently struggling to find games to play. Those guys either play way too many videogames, or they have an extremely impressive ability to clean up their backlogs.

As for the Series X, I can comfortably say, this will be my primary platform for the gen. Feels like the 360 era. Every game and studio I find myself excited about is on or affiliated with Xbox. Playstation was my primary platform the last 2 gens (well, the last 4 gens actually, but 360 was better) but I feel like I have experienced everything Playstation has to offer reguarding first party. Ive PLAYED Horizon Forbidden West. Ive Played The Last Of Us part 3, Ive played Uncharted 5, Ive Played God of War.

I know publishers decide the prices but.......

You've answered your own question.

Microsoft is not responsible for the decision of publishers. Just like Microsoft is not responsible for publishers choosing to not support Smart Delivery, because they want to milk you more.
