There are few higher compliments a developer can receive besides, “I dreamed about your game.” Many of us experienced that very phenomenon with Lone Echo—our adventures with the main character Liv were so vivid and the shared empathy so strong, the connection felt real. Ready At Dawn Studios’ storytelling and innovation DNA were on full display in Lone Echo and set the standard for VR narrative adventure, showcasing how virtual reality offers players more immersive, memorable, and emotionally charged experiences. Today, I’m excited to share that Ready At Dawn is joining Facebook—and the future of groundbreaking content in VR has never looked brighter.
Anyways, facebook......eww.
All I can say is, console war aside, you better pray that MS and Sony start snapping up everything not nailed to the ground, before Facebook, Amazon, and Google Stadia start opening up the checkbook.
Why Cows continue to put on their business suits, play fake accountant, and concern troll the books of one of the most consistently profitable companies on the face of the earth will continue to elude me.
Microsoft earned $51.975 billion dollars in OPERATING PROFITS (not revenue, profits) in the fiscal year ending March 2020. They are the second wealthiest company in the world ranked by market capital, and they have more cash reserves than the entire military budget of russia (the second most powerful nuclear superpower on earth, after the United States) multiple times over. Their market cap itself, more closely resembles the entire GDP of Russia or South Korea, than it does the market cap of Sony.
Lets make one thing absolutley clear, cows. Microsoft does not need your help making money. They dont need fanboys who hate them larping as accountants to do their bookkeeping for them. It is not your job or your place to concern troll "worry" about how Microsoft can afford anything, or pretend to be concerned if Phil Spencer can afford his light bill. Especially if you were silent when Sony was nearly brought to its knees as a company not that long ago. Look, just brag about Sony's first party, or some other such nonsense Cows. Just please retire this pants-on-head re(dacted) talking point.
All I can say is, to all who complain about $1 gamepass deals, and want them to raise the price, I promise you will get your wish next gen. I dont want to hear a single complaint when they're in a more aggressive position in the console war and decide to combine Xbox Live and Xcloud into gamepass and charge $15 as the base price for it next gen.
@fastnslowww: 24 hr 52 min.
But I took my time. That "open" level with the map, visited every area before proceeding.
Im convinced Sony had every intention on the v-shaped devkit design being the final design for the PS5, but the cooling system was inefficient (without it sounding like a vaccum cleaner) so they were forced to go with the design they have now. Lines up with rumors from just a couple months ago, that said they were having trouble with the cooling, and they would need to change the form factor. The final design was likely nailed down very recently.
@StrongDeadlift: PS3 360 gen was the exception, not the rule. If you don't know that, you've been living under a rock. Sony had to release a year later and cost way more than 360 for that to happen. Sony still won.
"The boxer that got knocked out, had to be slower, and not punch as hard, or as many times as the other boxer for that to happen".
Right. The only mistake Sony ever made last gen was $600 price tag, and a 360 one year head start. LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE. Those are the only two reasons the 360 dethroned the incumbent market leader with more than 6 times its marketshare the previous gen. Not The Cell processor making games harder to develop. Not the lack of dev tools, and robust netcode for developers. Not in-game-XMB and Cross game chat. Not the lack of key features and robust online services that would go on to define the entire gen. Not the lack of killer apps early on. Do you know that the PS3 didnt even have an OS-based PSN Store until april 2008? People really forget how awful this console was, feature and QOL-wise.
I'll never understand why you Cows at like PS3's failures were some kind of fluke of nature that Sony had no agency in, instead of a series of deliberate design choices, all made on purpose, and an entire design philosophy flawed on a fundamental level. Like Sony's this perpetual victim of the universe. You'd almost think Sony went into that gen with every possible handicap biased against it, instead of Microsoft, listening to Cows.
It wasnt the price tag, or 360's year head start. The value proposition itself was not as attractive as the 360. Or at least, it did not match the disparity in price.
These projections and polls (like that poll from last year about developer interest, which pre-dated the series x reveal) are a referendum on the PS4's status as the incumbent market leader. Nothing more.
They are not a referendum on the merits of the PS5 vs SERIES X.
The PS3 had similar projections, predictions, and mindshare polls at this stage of its pre-release cycle, coming off of the PS2. And even well after PS3's release people were still drinking the coolaid. And we know how all of that turned out. The conventional wisdom for a very long time was "just wait", Sony's gonna turn it around and crush the 360.
Hell, for alot of people, it wasnt until E3 08' when Sony lost Final Fantasy 13, that people kind'of accepted that at best PS3 could match the 360, but the dream of this great reversal of fates happening was over.
Oh man cows are not going to buy this. They want their PS5 to play uncompromised games built from the ground up to fully take advantage of the ground breaking SSD. Like that Sesame Street game with the robot.
And so it begins.
We told you cows, when you pretended to be outraged over Phil Spencer's comments a few months ago, when he said the first wave of games will be cross gen. Granted, phil spencer's sin was in verbalizing that out loud, we told you Cows that Sony was either going to do the same, or that they would arbitrarily gate off games that could very clearly run on current gen hardware, just to call them exclusives.
These consoles (neither of them) just arent that much more powerful than their last gen counter parts. The gap isnt big enough, full stop. This idea that the entire core foundational structures of games is going to see a paradigm shift this gen is silly. Like Uncharted 5 is suddenly going to become Star Citizen.
Its also puzzling why Cows seemed to have been expecting these wall to wall bangers out the gate for PS5, considering basically all of Sony's studios are accounted for. Either just wrapping big projects, or just starting big projects. We basically know what almost all of Sony's big studios are doing, within deductive reason.
