well as soon as MS announced halo and forza releasing in 2021, they already won the year even with all the games that released for ps5 this year. There are very few games that are as big as these titles. Even on nintendos end. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon and Smash are the only 4 that come to mind. And on playstation, it would only be a god of war title, or uncharted that could compete with that kind of level.

But ive said this before, MS has already blew their load this year. Their biggest block buster titles are already out, with only gears of war remaining, and in my opinion gears isn't on the level of halo or forza in the first place...its still great, but the prestige is one level lower.

In my opinion, 2022 is where things really start for MS...they need to seriously step up and show what they're capable of. They did show that by acquiring bethesda, and gamepass is unquestionably one of the greatest things to happen to gaming. They're really off to a great start this gen.

Starfield

Elder Scrolls

Avowed

Fable

Perfect Dark

Outer Worlds 2

Those are just some (not all) of Xbox's already announced games. Not counting unnanounced ones we know are coming. Like Obsidian's Josh Sawyer project that might be shown at TGAs. Or Inexile's multiple AAA projects. Or Compulsion's project which might be shown at the TGAs. I am also certain either InXile or Obsidian will produce a Fallout game at some point this gen (there is no way they're going to sit on that IP when they have like 3 different developers who could make it).

2nd party partnerships (and potential acquisition targets) like Asobo, Avalanche with Contraband, Relic's collaboration with Worlds Edge/AOE, IOI's confirmed projects with XGS Publishing, Crystal Dynamics with Perfect Dark, etc.......And the fact that both Phil and Satya have made it absolutely clear they intend to do more acquisitions........

Xbox is nowhere close to having "blown their load". Xbox's future has literally never looked brighter at any point in its history.

So if PSNow and PS+ are merged.... that means the numbers are gonna be WAY higher than Game Pass could ever dream of. I wonder what dubious metric MS would have to resort to now. 😂

Ponies not realizing that they're saying the quiet part out loud. 😂

The real reason Sony is "merging" their service with PS Plus, is so they can cook er...."blend" their numbers and make PS+ subscribers look like PSNow subscribers. To make their service look less abysmal by comparison. This is all being done for accounting purposes.

Its like literally everything this company does is lie lol. To their fans, to their consumers, to their shareholders (not legally), etc......Lying Jim strikes again.

On topic, I've always said, Cows will like GamePass when they are told to like GamePass.

One of the best games of last generation IMO.

The best thing about the MS Bethesda deal + GamePass is that there is a new wave of people all of a sudden just discovering that Prey 2017 is 🔥🔥🔥

Too bad they can't use physical games

MS should make an add-on disc drive like the HD-DVD drive that let you put in an extra game on the 360

Unneccesary. They would sooner begin shipping games on USB sticks if it ever got to that point.

You mean a product that's always been easy to find outsold products that are constantly out of stock? Wow 😮

This whole hiding behind supply constraints is the weirdest argument I've been seeing Cows make about this on other forums. Supply constraints apply to both consoles.

Do people think Sony didn't stockpile PS5s or ration their supply/production to have supply drops ready in time for Black Friday/Cyber monday? Their biggest sales period of the entire year, in any of their territories?

We know Sony ordered DOUBLE as many silicon wafers for PS5s as Microsoft did for Xbox (80,000 vs 40,000). They were also as close as they've ever been in Japan, by only a few hundred units above Series X/S.

Sony has consistently produced consoles more rapidly than Xbox the entire time the consoles have been being produced, so all of the handicaps are in Microsoft favor. The idea that these sporadic stints of Series X/S outselling PS5 are some kind of fluke due to overlaps between restocks, or territory-based supply allocations is silly. Moreover, they're also Sony's fault, and Sony's problem.

Yeah, I think its objectively clear that if Ratchet and Clank ends up winning GOTY, it will have a permanent asterisk affixed to that title.

When the highest rated and most popular game all year (until Halo), than many reviewers called a "masterpiece" and "best racing game ever", but didn't nominate, but you found a way to nominate a moderately good mid-80s game everybody stopped talking about after 2 weeks, I just cant bring myself to take it seriously, lol.

Can we talk about the fact that in the span of 2 weeks, Xbox has released 2 games that have each overtaken Warzone, Fortnite, Apex, and GTAV (the largest games in the industry) as the most played games on Xbox, and dominated the Steam charts, #3 steam concurrent users every night for the past 10 days, and had the #1 viewership on Twitch 2 nights ago?

There are PS content creators I watch (even "pony" ones) who have posted more hours of Halo Infinite Gameplay on their channels the last 2 weeks, than they have likely EVER spent playing Ratchet and Clank, on-or-off stream. It is absolutely clear what the two games that have gripped the cultural zeitgeist the most this year are. Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite.

Halo wouldn't have qualified (and thats partially MS/343's fault. They got scared and purposefully avoided the awards), but Forza? If Ratchet and Clank wins, it means as much to me as Macklemore beating Kendrick lamar/Good Kid Mad City for the Best Rap Album Grammy. In that it has a permanent asterisk next to it, and even HE knew it was nonsense.

Forza Horizon 4 took a year to hit 12 million (and 2 years for 24 million).

Forza Horizon 5 will hit 12 million in the next few days, and 24 million by the end of the year.

I don't even want to know Halo Infinite's numbers. Or Starfield.

Halo Infinite multiplayer just released. Which itself is now #1 on the Steam Top Seller charts, #3 on the Steam concurrent players list as of posting (192k) and the #2 game with the highest viewer count on Twitch right now (221k). And this entire paragraph will be obsolete in the next 2 hours.

Good lawd what a good time to be an Xbox gamer.

you weren't kidding. shit is dropping like a rock. rip halo

And down goes Warzone. Forza Horizon 5 is now the #1 most played game on Xbox.

Though I doubt how long that will last considering Halo Infinite multiplayer just released. Which itself is now #1 on the Steam Top Seller charts, #3 on the Steam concurrent players list as of posting (192k) and the #2 game with the highest viewer count on Twitch right now (221k).
