Do many games make use of the Remote & Nunchuk? They are the main reason I gave up on the Wii. I never liked using them, and they are awkward as hell to use while reclined on my sofa, which is where I do all my gaming from. I did buy the Classic Controller, only to find out that hardly any games let you use it.
I've only briefly held the Wii U Gamepad, but I wasn't impressed, and just couldn't see myself using it for long gaming sessions, but if the Wii U Pro Controller was an option for all games, then I'd seriously consider buying a Wii U if the price for the 32GB edition dropped a little more. Those Mario and Luigi games look like a lot of fun.
Ask pretty much any family that bought the Wii, and they will tell you that it's been gathering dust for ages now. The novelty wore off after a couple of years, so those same families, who Nintendo are aiming their new console at, are not going to upgrade to a Wii U when their Wii hasn't been used in years. Families with young kids who are new to gaming are also unlikely to buy a Wii U, as their kids are more than happy playing cheap games on a Tablet. There is no need for them to spend hundreds of pounds on a machine where the games cost £40. The Wii U just isn't aimed at "Gamers," and from what I have seen, there have been very few truly great first-party games released for it. Nintendo need to rethink their strategy, and try to appeal to adult gamers and older teenagers. That's the only way they will turn around the Wii U's fortunes. The first thing they need to do, is make the Gamepad the optional controller, and replace it with the optional extra, regular controller. If all Wii U games could be played with a regular controller, that may get me interested, as I have zero interest in playing with that Gamepad controller for extended gaming sessions.
@timoteo2k1 Of course I do, but things are getting worse, and I despair at some of the comments I read on Gamespot.
Take the Ryse review. If GS were being paid for reviews, then that is most definitely a game that M$ would have paid to get good reviews, but as we know, it didn't get anything close to a good review. So many people just can't grasp the concept of a review being nothing more than a personal opinion of the reviewer. I'm not sure why that seems so hard for people to understand.
@wheelbobby Yeah, but can you use it with all games? The Wii had a standard controller, which I bought along with the console, and then returned it to the store when I found out that I couldn't use it with any of the games I had bought.
@abHS4L88 Yeah, I've held one, and I just wasn't comfortable with it. It just feels wrong. If I bought a Wii U, it would just end up gathering dust along with my Wii, as I didn't like the controllers for it either.
If Nintendo offered the option use a regular controller with all their games, I'd happily buy a Wii U and use my Wii more often, as I hated using those Wii controllers with games like Super Mario Galaxy, SSX Blur etc.
Having lost all respect for Micro$oft, I'll be jumping ship to Sony and the PS4 sometime next year when I can afford to buy one, and I am genuinely really excited about it, and I haven't felt that way about a console since the days of the PS1 :)
