Thanks again ppl I got a few lols out of your suggestions, interesting about the permissions one but I only have one account so would it be possible to set the permission to use the game to... noone??

Also I have Vista installed in dual-boot so would it be possible to set the permission to that instead?

damageisking

Just set the current account with denied access to the folder, and then create another account for you (or just use the administrator account) which will have full permissions.

If you are using the administrator account with no other users setup. Create another user account and set windows to automatically log in using that account, and cripple that account so that it can't access the folder.

Then when you want to use the computer, log off and then log on as administrator (or another account).

I did this to my brother to keep him thinking that the computer was broken: This only works if he logs in using his own unique ID.

Log in as administrator and set NTFS permissions to the c:\program files\ as denied to his user ID, Administrator and you gets full control.

He cant play, uninstall, or install, unless he chooses a different folder to install to, but he's not that computer-savvy is he?

And you can set the permissions to only the football manager folder if you want, or the entire drive, so that he can't do anything at all.

1. You get power (even if it's for a second or two) which should mean that the PSU should be good. If your PSU was bad then you would either get no power, or a VERY brief spurt of power, that's my experience.

2. If the motherboard was functional and one of your other components would of been bad (RAM/GPU/HDD/ETC) then you would have gotten error beep codes, and/or BIOS status messages. A computer can still boot without a video card, it will just give you error beep codes, and then possibly continue to load the OS. You can try booting the computer without a video card at all and it should have the same results you are getting now.

3. Being in an uncontrollable temperature situation (in your garage) could have produced condensation that could have caused any little part of your motherboard to short, causing your motherboard to cut power because it just can't complete its operations, or any myriad of other problems.

4. Your CPU should be ok, considering is in a semi-closed environment, and not much can get to it, but this kind of a problem could be caused by a bad CPU also.

If I was in your situation, the first thing I would do is try another power supply just to be safe. Then I would try replacing the motherboard. Then the CPU.

Hope this helps

You need a DVI (white thingy) to VGA (blue thingy) converter. One should have been included with your video card.

The one on your motherboard is a Parallel LPT port (pink thingy)

[QUOTE="TUnified"]

[QUOTE="-CheeseEater-"]Oh I bumped the GPU fan speed up to 55% and now the 8800GT runs about 5 degrees cooler, but there's still beeping...:? Ugh...-CheeseEater-

I've been hearing about "heat" issues with the E8** series, not really heat related, it's just that the sensor diode reports incorrect temperatures. And I believe it's your motherboard making that beeping noise. Try increasing the temperature warning levels in your BIOS to about 58 degrees or so, see if that helps.

Hh my goodness mate, you were correct! My motherboard hasn't beeped since! Thank you so very much. that beeping was just insane. :D :) :) :)

Heh, no problem, glad I could help. :)

The integrated NIC integrated into the chipset, I beleive your motherboard is nForce 4, did you try the nVidia drivers? There are four options for an AMD based system under "Product Type" when you choose "nForce" and then choose "nForce 4 series". I don't know exactly which one you need, but it's definately there, hopefully this helps.

Another thing to try, make sure you are "closing" the disc when you burn it. i.e. turn off multisession, or turn off the ability to be able to write files to it later.

It does sound like the writer is "borked" as the previous poster said, but I know multisession discs can cause some weird issues too.
