E3 2008 - Sony

____________E3 08: BIG NEWS IN MY MIND: ____________

SONY:

Good news, this conference was very impressive. Jack Tretton was a great host even if he went on for 90 minutes, but it was a damn great 90 minutes with so many previously announced games showing up and new game announcements for every console, a new deal or bundle for each console this even reminded this PS2 owner of what was in store for him and how significantly more excited about getting his PS3. So, the PS3 had mainly word already out titles, there were at least two never known before titles but Jack really seemed to be involved with interconnecting gamers, the new applications, and Sony Online's Entertainment projects. There was little talk about Sixaxis, more power like a 256 Massively Multiplayer Online Action Game (MMOAG). The PSP section was seeing the most game focused releasing games including a multitude of games popular on the PS2 and PS3 making debuts on the PSP, the most popular likely to be a Resistance spinoff (got me excited too). The PS2 has little as it was described as a starters console, which is why Sony is going to release a family frienldy PS2 game bundle, but that was the main highlight for PS2, oh well things are getting pretty dim but at least Sony has tried once again. I would definitely recommend the show because I got excited and you have to do quite allot to get me going. Included in the list is each consoles newly announced titles as of today, and major showpieces features in the conference:

E3 2008 - Nintendo

____________E3 08: BIG NEWS IN MY MIND: ____________

NINTENDO:

Knowing what I saw was real, I am pretty sure what Nintendo has in mind and it is rather unusual: The DS is getting most of the franchises that have been established, it is also getting some snazy applications. The Wii has new titles, but it is definitely aiming even more casual and there was no mentioning of a new Mario game or even of the sluggers game due out soon. I actually think that the DS is now Nintendo's main focus while the Wii, it just seemed like it only got half the show and more of the same. The show was good, wooden acting, and my computer sputtered through the show a couple of times but I was surprised, you should watch it. I also have brand spanking new features and games announced only just today:

DS:___________________________________________________

-Recipe electronic cookbook built in application

-A sort of notepad / task manager / communication network built in application

-New Pokemon game

-Guitar Hero: Word Tour Decades - due out this year

-GTA Chinatown spinoff based in Liberty City

Wii:___________________________________________________

-Wii Sports Resort

-Wii Music

-Animal Crossing: City Folk

-Player to player VO device

-Advanced motion censor attachment

GAMESPOT update no 1

I cannot seem to get any videos ready, (software compatability) instead I will host them all on blog posts. It will make things get done faster so check back again soon. I did get Alone in the Dark, Gamespot seems to be the only review location that got the game, all the other reviews spilled milk over little issues (I'm pretty sure that IGN also complained about issues that don't even exist). It is an alright game, but it definately is one of those games that you either favour or hate dearly; I plan to have a review soon but I've only gotten a little ways in.

What to do with ATARI?

There was once a big money hungry company called ATARI, they built a few consoles and made a few too many mistakes. For instance, ATARI is the company that made allot of gamers believe that games based on movies were bad, cash chugging sources, shipped with more potential problems than a mine field. Their most renowned example (and probably the main reason for the crash of the videogame market starting in 1983) was E.T. Steven Spielberg's great work of film making was an abominating game; rumor persists that the game was made in 5 weeks, and ATARI thought that the title just before Christmas would sell... Like a Super Mario Bros game. If I remember correctly, they shipped out 10,000,000 copies of the game when there were only 8,000,000 ATARI consoles (what were they thinking), it did not sell well, and and almost all of what few were sold got refunded. There were so many copies that ATARI had to get rid of them all, so they dumped them all into a BIG pit somewhere in New Mexico and filled the hole full of cement.

Since then, ATARI has been, sort of working things out, bad games can't hold a company forever and ATARI has now become heavily reliant on the franchises it started off well with and gave So-So treatment as those games spawned. So I have one question: Does ATARI now make purchase worthy games? I'm looking at Alone in the Dark as one of two things: Mediocre cash crop, OR well cared product because ATARI knows that they need this game to succeed and they know what the gaming industry thinks of them. I know that ATARI has shipped some pretty bad games, but there still are some good ones and I think that the company has smartened up, what do you think?

Just So You Know

You may realize that I've been posting a lot of videogame reviews in the past little while. I am actually just writing about all the games I've alrweady played, I play games on occasion but I now have college in the way so I can only get a little bit of play time. There's a lot more reviews to come out soon and I'm going to try some movie postings; but no video blogs, if I make a video its likely going to be something unique like a feature. I have gamed for about 10 years and I searched around gamespot for about 1 1/2 years before I joined.
