After looking at that moniter it is perfect. If u have standard A/V cables and a tv hook that up but also have the ps3 hooked up to the moniter. Manually set the settings to hdmi through the tv. Try 720p.ttobba07

Remember when u turn on the ps3 to hold the power button to turn it on. Do not use the controller. Hold it until it beeps a second time to reset the video and audio settings to default then release. When I hooked my HDMI, the video reset itself automatically went to HDMI mode and I had to choose between auto or manual A/V settings.ttobba07

Thanks for the reply. I have tried both of these methods, but still I only get a black screen. I the monitor is detecting an imput, as the LED goes screen, but I still only get a black screen.

Is there anything I can do? I've just spent so much money on this and I'm really dissapointed.

Thanks guys.

If your monitor is hdcp compatible, it should work. Try resetting your video settings by holding the power button for 5 seconds till you hear some beeps. melvinvth

Still no luck. Thanks for the reply though.

Hello everyone.

I have finally purchased a Playstation 3. I am trying to play the video through my computer monitor but need some help.

The monitor that I would like to use with my PS3 is a Hannsg HW223D. It has a DVI and VGA input at the back. I hace jsut bought a HDMI --> DVI cable, much like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ps3-Hdmi-Dvi-Cable/dp/B000NWQULS/ref=pd_sbs_ce_img_2 this one.

I plugged it all in and turned on my console, however, all I get is a pretty much black screen, no image. Reviews state that my monitor has HDCP, what could the problem be?

If you need anymore details on my monitor, it's listed on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/HannsG-HW223D-Widescreen-Black-Silver/dp/B000PGTKBY here

Thanks everyone for the help in advance.

* Yep you can connect it up, it will work and everything but you have a problem with sound (there is none)

* Does not look any different quality wise as it's all digital.
Also try and get the cheapest HDMI DVI cable you can, or better yet a HDMI cable + a HDMI DVI Adapter, this way when/if you get a HDTV you still have a perfectly good HDMI cable.

Your monitor has HDCP support through DVI also so you have no worries as far as 1080p movies + games are concerned.
I suggest you buy it.

If you need help with sound there's a link in my sig.

Hello everyone.

I've just got myself enough money to finally purchase a Playstation 3. I would like to display its video output through my computer monitor. I was wondering if you guys could advise me and help me a little. OK, on to the details.

The monitor that I would like to use with my PS3 is a Hannsg HW223D. It has a DVI and VGA input at the back. I can see that retailers like Amazon supply HDMI ---> DVI cables, much like this one and this one.

Would it be possible to connect my PS3 to my monitor using one of these cables? Is there any differene between HDMI and DVI quality wise?

If you need anymore details on my monitor, it's listed on Amazon here.

Thanks everyone for the help in advance.

Hello everyone.

I am playing my Xbox 360 console through my PC monitor. I am connecting it via the official Microsoft Xbox 360 VGA cable. My question is, is this method high definition? Am I getting my video and games in HD? Thanks a lot.
