[QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="Doolz2024"]I have no problem with how I do in Black Ops. I play it to have fun and do pretty well.

My complaints are about the game itself. Like I said, the horrible hit detection, lag, the host advantage; That's what makes the game frustrating sometimes. Soooo, yeah.

haberman13

Everyone has to deal with that. You're not entitled to an advantage.

Not entitled, but he can purchase an advantage!

I'm still not seeing why its a problem, this is the nature of capitalism/gaming/hobbies, embrace the upgradability IMO.

As I've said before, it isn't an upgrade. It's a complete change. You don't compete at the Archery stand with a Punt gun, why would you use a Mouse in a Controller game? Their category is different for a reason.

It's not the nature of capitalism/gaming/hobbies, it's the nature of a frustrated player who can't win on leveled ground and must, therefor, rely on skill-unrelated benefits.

Why is it cheating regardless? How is it any different than buying a different controller, better internet or larger TV?

The fact that Halo is XIM agnostic is irrelevant, until MS declares its cheating/bannable offense then I see nothing wrong with it. Just using the tech thats available.

haberman13

It isn't licensed by Microsoft. And, supposing that doesn't convince you, you've got to have a s****y definition of fairplay if you're taking a Keyboard + Mouse against people using controllers. It's not their fault you can't use the licensed tool.

XIM might be the impetus for consoles to become more like PC - until then consoles are stuck with auto-aim and fake competition with artificial limitations.

XIM frees up the controller limitation, and makes "twitch" skills the most determinate factor. With a controller the key skill is "spray-n-pray".

Go watch a Pro match of Halo: Reach and then we'll talk again. In any case, the key-skill to being a good controller-wielding FPS player is to know how to strafe and mantain your gun leveled. Of course, if you actually bothered learning how to use a controller, you'd know that.

Regarding your previous post, going from a controller to a mouse/keyboard isn't a tweak or upgrade. It's a change. It's different from a race where you have Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Mercedes. It's taking a gun to a knife-fight, or racing a bicycle with a motorcycle. Evidently that the difference isn't as large as the example cited, but it's still not the same thing.

Agreed, but in this instance I just see it in the same way a PC gamer would buy a 2000dpi mouse vs a ball mouse.

It's not cheating IMO, just using what is available. Same for any sport/activity, better golf clubs, better tuning on a car, better paintball equipment etc.

haberman13

Your opinion doesn't really matter in this case, because it's cheating regardless of it. The fact that the software (Halo) doesn't even support the hardware input, and you need it to have its own software to calibrate the mouse, is enough proof of this.

Honestly? I hope Microsoft allows its usage, that way we'll get games already set up for it. If Microsoft doesn't do it, I just hope it bans people who use XIM3 and other scale-tippers.

I don't care if it's fair or not.

Simply awesome. Desire to FPS MP on console with XIM rising!

Hmmm ... actually, now I could play console shooters ... is the auto-aim still on when you use XIM? That is my biggest problem with console shooters, it feels like the game "grabs" the cursor and moves it for you; very annoying.

haberman13

Stick to PC shooters.

Terrible news. It's like pitting paraolympic 100m sprinters against Usain Bolt (although the guy in the video is terrible).

I don't like the way BF plays, but I can see that it's a good game, regardless. I'd say that the best shooter FRANCHISE (not individual title) is Halo. I still need to get Killzone 3 to give my opinion on it, but I don't think it can de-throne Halo.

[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]Eww resistance and R & C. I doubt xbox gamers want them.MFDOOM1983

what's your beef with ratchet and clank? that's a quality franchise.

I found the gameplay to be piss easy and the overall narrative boring.

The latest R&C sucked balls. You should try out the PS2's "Ratchet & Clank".

Let me get this straight: games will never be good as they were when they were console exclusive, unless their main platform is the PC?

Something's wrong there, TC.

That was bizarre. From the wierd porno soundtrack to the strange subliminal imagery of comparing the Wiimote to a sextoy.

EddieTheHead84

Really? You've never compared the Wiimote to a sextoy? I mean, post-motionplus it's practically impossible.
