I preferred the conspiracy style narrative of the earlier games. The first civilisation backstory was just... hammy.

@TheJackFunk @amiga499 I'm sure this would get a higher score if it came out before Civ 5, but just because it's a good game on it's own doesn't mean it shouldn't also be compared to its predecessors. It sounds like it's a 7 because though it advances some concepts, it removes complexity from others.

Also, I've heard pretty amazing things about the Persona series, so it sounds like you're already biased to defending Civ, which is fair enough. Both are good series'.

@Gunmaster51 Yeah, it's pretty milky. I'm only getting it so I can get my naval combat fix on my PC. Black Flag was like 20fps on PS3 and it was terrifying.

@Pyrosa @TehUndeadHorror I never said I wanted it to be an action game, just a game with complexity. It's the same issue I had with Child of Light. I loved that game, but the combat system was just a simplified Grandia, and it became far too easy to exploit in the late game.

I could defend FPS's with the argument that shooters have existed since the 90s, but it wouldn't make a game any less regressive if no improvements had been made since.

I was hoping they'd revamp the combat system completely. As much as I enjoyed the first, I really don't want to go through those QTE battles again.
