I'm sorry to add yet another PS3/360 thread, but I'm selling my Wii and am trying to decide between the two. I have looked over all the specs/games and have one more deciding factor to make up my mind: The Controller!

I used to have the original xbox, and played alot of fps on it. I've always thought the xbox had a good feel for fps. On the other hand I've never owned a playstation, and any time I try to play a friends the controler, especially the joysticks, feel pretty awkward. I think that if I could switch controllers I'd probably go with the PS3, but am scared that I'll never get used to the controller.

Can anyone tell me if they've had a similar situation and if I'll adjust to the PS3 controller? or if not should I just stick with the 360? If theres a related thread on this I'd really appreciate a link.

Thanks in advance guys!

TheRiddler9

I'm pro 360 and think the 360 controller is head and shoulders above the PS3's, even with that said if you think you'd prefer a PS3 and only the controller is holding you back just get a a PS3, before long you'll barely notice a difference.

MS really should of just made one 60gb XBOX 360 and not messed around with different units right off the hop. This is not to say that I don't love my 360 and that it isn't a very capable machine it just drives me nuts to know that if every unit had a decent size drive (I'm constantly erasasing crap of my 20gb for new downloads) that it would be so much more, other then RROD it would be perfect.

Whoever decided to not go with a standard HDD should lose his job, it was an easily preventable gaffe.

I don't know if this is possible but could games store data on a thumbdrive and access it the same way it does a HDD? 1gb-2gb thumb drives are dirt cheap, I can't even imagine the price if bought in bulk. I would like to see what the 360 version would be like if Rockstar had a couple gigs of info that did not have to be accessed from the disc. If the info could be read off a usb thumbdrive at a fast enough speed like a HDD this would solve some problems the 360 will be facing in certain games down the road.

Is there anything I'm not factoring in with this idea because if not it makes sense to bundle thumbrives for people without HDD. If the game were an extra $2 it would cover the cost of the thumbrives and $2 is not enough to enrage core owners.

[QUOTE="Uptown"]so much damage control from lems....keep bringing up the DLC that you wont play til christmas.....and theres no saying PS3 isnt getting anything. Anyways, everyone just be happy we're all getting an awesome game that the Wii boys wont be able to play. I think its time to take the spotlight off the casual gamers.Uptown

360 paid for exclusive content and in that agreement I'm sure that exclusive also meant that no content would be exclusive to the PS3 hence whatever DLC is made it will always be on the 360. If Rockstar could just make exclusive content for the PS3 what was the point in paying 50 million?

I personally couldn't care less about the DLC. If I owned a PS3 that would probably be the version I would get, cross the DLC bridge when it comes up.

You just scored a big touchdown...act like you've been in the endzone before.

these "agreements" between companies are always worded specifically...is the agreement ALL DLC for GTA 360 exclusive....or is it TWO Exclusive Episodes....because if its just TWO episodes (as I believe was stated) then they could make an entirely different episode from those two for the PS3 if they wanted.

I guess without seeing the contract ourselves we'll have to wait and see.

I just can't believe how amazing and epic this game looks, I really didn't believe the PS3 or 360 were capable of something on this scale, I figured next gen we would get a game like this.

Its funny that lems here are saying "the differences are so small graphically you probably wont even notice it"....

NEWSFLASH: 4 different sources so far have said the PS3 version is better....a consistent agreement, it cant be THAT unnoticeable.

.....Better load times, better framerates, better Anti-aliasing, less pop-in, free online play.......all lems have to brag about is their DLC they wont see for another 9 months

Uptown

I have not really seen better framerates but your right on the rest but the difference is when (so far) the versions are compared they say both are great and the difference is minimal with an obvious slight edge to the PS3. Go read Madden, Lost Planet, Orange Box, F.E.A.R. or Splinter Cell reviews for the PS3, they basically say that they are not even the same game as the 360 counterparts. When PS3 gets better versions they are very marginally better, when 360 games are better they are usually better by a fair margin. I have not seen a single game where the reviewers say that the PS3 version is hands down the one to own and that 360 is getting a gimped version, I've seen that quote many times the other way.

I will say I'm jealous of PS3 owners who will be playing the better version even if it is just a little better. I'll eventually own a PS3 so it's really a moot point.

San Andreas filled a Dual Layer DVD9. GTAIV will have bigger textures and other visual details. Much more cut scenes, more voice acting. More music. More sound in general.

Triple layer? I haven't noticed this before. I wasn't even aware that it existed. Just saying. Since people go paranoid when they hear about disc space issues. I think they have plenty of room left even. E M I N 3 M

Any GTA game on PS2 never went over a singe layer DVD. This is why there were 'scene' releases of all the GTA's including the last, which fit on a DVDR with nothing stripped. When devs have problems fitting stuff on a DVD, M$ helps them work it out. ie Assassin's Creed. M$ always had the upperhand with compressin tech...That is why when GTA's released on Xbox they were smaller in size, yet looked better.

Also, when & where was it announced that the X360 version would have an optional install?

PS2 SA almost filled a DVD9, the XBOX and PC version due to .ogg music format were half the size

SA almost filled up a DVD9  THINK what you want, i will not get into a piracy discussion on these forums =X

San Andreas on the XBOX was 2.85 GB, Vice City came in at 1.28 GB so no San Andreas was not even close to taking up a full disc. Open area games do not require as much space as you'd think they would.

Your logic is flawed. If the games are equal everyone wins.

NielsNL

Wow, really...So with that logic if I have Corvette and you have a Lamborghini and you are just able to keep up with me in a race, you feel comfortable about your purchase?!?!? Take a step back act as if the PS3 is not made by Sony, only then will you get a true understanding of how it is underperforming this gen versus the competition.

Game On...

You really think along different lines than I. Your example makes this clear. What if I buy a Lambo just becasue I like it and not becasue of how fast it goes. Than I'll enjoy my lambo just as much as you enjoy your corvette. Just like you care so much whether your system has a slightly better version of one particular game whereas I'm happy if we can all enjoy the same quality game.

If you bought a PS3 just because you like it and not because you believe it has better games then the 360 what are you trying to prove? What you've proved to me is you like Sony more and the the actual performance of the system is meaningless to you AKA YOU'RE A FANBOY!

The PS3 is not a piece of art you buy and pay a premium for because it looks great.

Its entirely possible that they'll look and play virtually identically, but one won't require a subscription to play online ^.^tomarlyn

Subscription? unless you're God subcription or not you will not be playing VF5 online on the Waitstation!

Here's how I see it. I think MGS4 isgoing to go multiplat.

It'll be ported to 360 months later, or possibly a year later repackaged as MGS4: Substance with some extra stuff in it... Just like MGS2 was. And guess what? I don't see it affecting PS3 sales much at all, since MGS2 on xbox sold horribly.

JustE32007

There is a big difference though. Xbox 360 is what Playstation 2 was, the better selling system. Game developers release games based on install base and popularity of the system not because they like the brand. Expect to see a simultaneous release of the game on both systems.

Ridiculous, there may be a port 6 months to a year but I seriously doubt konami or Kojima has been secretly working on the 360 version in tandem.

What about space on DVD9's? 5 of them?

The game is so large because Konami has the luxury of the extra space Blu-Ray provides and programs accordingly. Compression techniques which cause miniscule downgrades in the graphics and audio department will be used on the 360 and I can assure you the game will come in much smaller then the PS3 version and will be essentially the exact same game. Do I think they can fit it on one disc...no, but two maybe three at the most. I don't see any 360 game getting over 3 discs.
