[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"] How is knowledge pointless?rawsavon

One can get a degree without knowing what the degree is. One can gain knowledge without getting a degree, and not waste time doing pointless essays, homework, ect. I would much prefer learning about the history of Egypt by going to Egypt and getting a first-hand look by visiting museums, talking to historians, debate, ect.

Some people like class work :o

Yeah, losers like class work.

Even in self defense? You'd willingly let yourself be killed even if you had the ability to defend yourself?

Let me rephrase what I said before. I don't think the Chinese government had the right to execute this man. Just because they have a law which states that they can, it doesn't mean that I have to agree with that law, therefore I don't have to recognize their right.

And unfortunately, that's not up to you to decide what laws are just and what laws are unjust but up to the Chinese Communist Party. Unless, of course, you are a member of the CCP, in which case you'll probably be disappeared soon. The man broke Chinese law, thus he is punished by Chinese law, and there's not a damn thing you can do about it. The sooner you realize this the better.

I may not have any power in the decisions of the Chinese government, but that doesn't mean that I have to agree with them or even accept them, and I wont accept them.

[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]Well maybe now, but pursuing degree after degree for 20-40 years (I'm assuming since the article doesn't go into detail) does seem pointless to me.Vandalvideo

This so called "right" is as tenuous as it is transparent, and I don't recognize their having it. All men are equal under God, and no-one has the right to take the life of another.

Considering that the UK government never questioned the legality of this decision, but only pledged for reconsideration, I'll take a wild guess and say China does have this right.

McJugga

I say they don't have this right, and I could give a damn what their laws say concerning this issue.

It doesn't matter if you think they don't, because they do.

I hope the UK government doesn't let this rest, China had no right to execute someone from a different nation.

[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]... OF course.. Lets say you were a business.. And you were introduced two plans.. One plan is a tried and true plan with numerous amounts of evidence to back up its effectiveness and the way it works.. The other is a plan that has not been tested, has had no evidence on its success, and is only on the merits about some guy.. Which one would you choose? As a example, ghosts do not exist as fact, hence they do not exist when you are trying to talk about truth.. If we found evidence to that shows otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt, then truth would change accordingly.. With out this line of thought, we would never have been able to set the foundations of logic, technology, and science.. Vandalvideo
But you haven't established that ghosts do not exist as a triusm. You've merely claimed it without providing evidence. And as far as your final claim goes, that we would not have established the foundations of logic, technology and science; that seems to be mighty presumptuous. How do you know that we wouldn't have evolved just as well with just as much progress had we not given equal consideration to what we considered to be even the most absurd of claims? Perhaps what we have now is actually the worst case scenario, and you have actually harmed society.

Did you not see my post directed to you on the last page?
