Ughh, I don't know how people could continue to follow all of these superhero movies. Bad stories and casts keep changing. The only breath of fresh air in this Marvel/DC over-saturation is Deadpool and the new Lego Batman movie. The rest is super bland.
His HL3 answer was a little weird but I think what the real issue is Gabe Newell feels that his current vision of HL3 wouldn't have the impact of the first two games. Maybe instead of Half-Life 3 his project looks more like Episode 3 and it's not good enough. Sometimes it takes a revolutionary product (i.e. innovative games, new physics engines, new graphics solutions, interesting accessories) in the gaming industry to inspire artists to create new things. Hell, the Half-Life series has plenty of 1984 in it. Maybe watching a movie or one of today's amazing TV shows would turn on a light bulb in his head. Gabe probably doesn't feel inspired at this point in his life.
I'm betting HL3 will be released within the next five years. I'm convinced that if he lets other employees take the lead on all of his other projects and Gabe focuses solely on HL3, he will eventually form something worthy of a sequel.
Unfortunately, my wish list only has two games on it (MGS5 and FF6) and I'm waiting for a deep discount on those. I'm just not excited to play many cheaper games these days. I'm already busy with BF1 and waiting on the next South Park game. That's about it.
