Halo Wars has outsold Killzone 2. HW hit 1M LONG time ago, Killzone 2 did it recently.

mgsfan1189

no killzone 2 did it before worldwide sales which is quite a disapointment for a game with the name HALO on it with the name Halo it should have reached 4 to 5 million by now.

lol, NO, it did not. Sony reported YESTERDAY Killzone 2 did. HW did long time ago.

I agree it's hard to accept an unknown RTS on consoles outsell a HOT FPS on consoles, but in this situation, we have to.

show me the post

;) and halo wars was hyped AAAAE

mgsfan1189

I wish I could in an easy way search through ALL killzone 2 THReads created Before Killzone 2 LAUNCH in SW only here, but sadly I can't.

And either you're trolling or you were not here before Killzone 2 was released. there were A LOT of Sales posts about it, about it selling MUCH. Lol, especially after SONY **** ALL cows on the entire Internet by releasing their 1.1 preorders lol 3 weeks before release.

the 1.1 pre orders was news and it's reached that number it should be now at 1.5 milllionbut can you show me post of cows saying it will be a sales phenominom and will outsell halo 3 ?

if I am not mistaken all that was heard was lemmings saying that halo wars would outsell it because it's HALO and how Halo wars would reach 5 million in a week.

lol, did 1.1 million pre-order KILLZONE 2 3 Weeks before launch, and they waited 1 and a half month then bought it? Lol what's the matter with PS3 owners  And since no Halo game has sold 5 million in a week, I dont know why any1 would hype it to sell that much

[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] Killzone 2's hype was no where even in the same solar system as the Halo 3 hype. Seriously. Only in the very sheltered world of online core gamers could you think that they were even close.SpruceCaboose

LOL. Stop DEFENDING the game. If you REALLYdon't think Killzone 2 was AT LEAST as hyped as H3, you MUST have lived in a cave in the last 3 years. Killzone 2 was hyped like NO OTHER game on the forums MONTHS before release. Not even the 10 GTA IV comes close. Every damn kid talked about it before launch about how awesome it would be and how it would kill Halo. Go to N4G, see yourself, before launch, I read myself no game came close to KILLZONE 2. Also, what about the £2 AD in the UK ALONE by Sony? I saw Killzone 2 ads EVERYWHERE before launch, on bus stations, every time I **** turned on the TV, KIllzone 2 was there, especially on many TV SERIES. It's just, people ignored it.

Killzone 2 was way more hyped, in fact, EVERYWHERE on the forums and IRL. Sony spend more on marketing on Killzone 2, for instance £2 in UK ALONE, than Microsoft did on Halo 3. Everybody talked about this **** EVERYBODY. Everywhere, where have you been living? I don't even know if you're serious now...

What flavor soda did Killzone 2 have? Did Killzone 2 get sold at 7-11? Please. Killzone 2 was no where near as hyped as Halo 3 was in the real world, and I say this as a huge Halo fanboy, so I don't know where you get this idea that I am just defending Killzone 2.

Who cares which game gets sold at 7-11? It's all about HYPE I'm talking about. Not where games are sold. Killzone 2 Hype was Extreme, easily transcending Halo

Well, that basically destroys his "logic" about the time when a game is released. Also, Killzone 2 Hype = Halo 3 Hype. You don't know how many times Killzone 2 exploded before launch.

Halo games on the much smaller Xbox user base outsold a good majority of the PS2 games? Userbase =/= guarantee higher sales.

Two golden things; 1) Marketing and 2) releasing the game at the right time.

Gears of War had great marketting and came out in November, where people buy software in droves. Killzone 2 had poor marketing. Yeah it had a lot of internet hype, but internet hype doesn't translate to every gamer. That's why Resident Evil 5, on both the 360 and PS3, and Halo Wars sold more than Killzone 2. Better Marketing = higher chance the game will sell. This is something Sony has been dropping the ball on lately.

As for the time it's released; games sell better during the holiday season, and when you mix awesome marketting like Gears of War, you have a guaranteed hit.

SpruceCaboose

Halo 3 was not released in Christmas, and yet, it saw sales that reached 2.5 million in USA in 24 hours.

Halo 3 was going to sell millions no matter when it was released. But the release was timed for maximum revenue. The hype got it tons of initial sales, while a month or so later it entered the holiday shopping season which bought it another wind in sales potential.

Well, that basically destroys his "logic" about the time when a game is released. Also, Killzone 2 Hype = Halo 3 Hype. You don't know how many times Killzone 2 exploded before launch.

NPD March 2008 - Xbox 360: 262,000. PS3: 257,000.

NPD March 2009 - one year later - Xbox 360: 330,000 (THAT'S +). PlayStation 3: 218,000 (LOL, THAT'S MINUS, -).

Sorry, PS3 is going downwards.

Combat Evolved > War Perfected

combat evolved its a sad haloripoff

Got to it before I did.

Perfected > evolved.

Though Killzone 2 didn't perfect anything.
