[QUOTE="Ace6301"][QUOTE="GreenGoblin2099"]To Sony as a whole it's an annoyance. These people have no hope of doing anything meaningful to Sony. They could end up causing Sony to just say f*** it and cut off the gaming section if they keep it up long enough though. I doubt they have that much power though. Really? Considering its affacting their bottom line profits... and making people weary about the security of their service... and causing people to buy the competition hardware when PSN is down... I think it affects sony a lot and if it were to happen again, it would be bad for business.No real damage?? well, PSN is proof you're worng, man.
Phazevariance
I doubt many people actually went out and bought the competing hardware when PSN was down.

LOl really? that basically cost them 171 million ( improvements in network infrastructure and the welcome back program). For a company that has about 40 billion to spend thats a stumble. If the hackers accomplish anything it will be new legislation that gets passed that cracks down on them to the point where they will be treated like terrorist.
$40 billion?!?!?! Where'd you pull that figure from? This article from yesterday does say they might invest in other companies, but with their $8.3 billion reserves, not the fantastical number you produced :Phttp://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-30/sony-leads-japan-inc-circling-takeovers-with-2-4-trillion-cash-real-m-a.html
"Sony had the most cash, with $8.3 billion more in reserves than borrowings as of March, the data show. That's a sevenfold increase in five years. Japan's largest exporter of consumer electronics had an average return on equity, which measures how much a company earns for each dollar invested, of 0.2 percent in that span, versus an 8.3 percent return in the Topix.
Since Howard Stringer, 69, was named Sony's first non- Japanese chief executive officer in March 2005, the company has lost about $9 billion in market value, the data show. From its high four years ago, Sony's equity has decreased by $33 billion.
Sony, which posted three straight years of losses for the first time since listing its shares in 1958, on May 26 forecast net income this fiscal year that fell short of analysts' estimates by 31 percent, data compiled by Bloomberg show. "
I beleive 40 billion is the overall worth of the company, but they still have reserves. For a company to even think about failing or merging they need to be in debt.

$40 billion to spend :lol: The market value for Sony is only 27 billion and their stocks are on a downward slope.Also Sony to post an annual loss of $3.2 billion for its fiscal year ending in March 2011 - the second largest loss in company history
Sony as a whole not just gaming division are not doing that great.
Market value does not include all cash assets. That is what is owned by investors. And that was there second loss they posted in 16 years.

If you want to be palying Samaritan you will probalby need to get the next Xbox as its highly unlikely Epic will be releasing a high end PC exclusive anytime soon. The last time they released a tech demo that made everyones jaw drop it was for Gears of War and we all know what that launched for :)
TheSterls
The next xbox is gonna have 1-3 GTX 580s? Alright!
Yeah. All the shots were bullshots and it ended up looking a lot worse than what was shown. That is, until it got to PC and was graphics king for a month because Crysis came out. Not even Gears 3 has anything on Gears 1 PC.
LOL Gears 3 destroys Gears 1 on pc. not to mention it destroyed anything on pc when it was launched. Go look in at all the graphic reviews when it launched. And Gears 1 on pc looks better then Gears 3? Horrid lighting , gray enviorments give me a break. And 3 580s? That just goes to show how horribly Unoptimized it is. crysis was running on 4 7900GTX and barely got 30 fps when it was shown before it was launched. Thats because devs use this thing we were talking about earlier . ( CALLED OPTIMIZATION)
In 2 years they will have a card alot smaller and a lot more efficent and more powerful then a GTX580 and yes it will probalby be in the next Playstation.

[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]
I'll even buy the next MS console if it can geta GTX 580 in it so Battlefield 3 looks "average." Meanwhile we'll be playing the Samaritan from Epic if they do turn it into a series, which so far takes more power to render than BF3 while consoles are stuck with that.
Seriously, optimization is not a magic tool that can be used an infinite amount of times. With consoles, there is only more blur and pop-in. :D

I think re4 was the only gamecube game that was on the level of black and god of war 2 for ps2..come on lets not act like gamecube had a whole collection of great looking games. most of the games on that system looked terrible.[QUOTE="mojosodopee"]
[QUOTE="ChubbyGuy40"]
You obviously must have because every Nintendo console besides the Wii WERE very powerful graphically. Not our fault you are ignorant and refuse to believe it. RE4 had the best visuals last generation hands down on consoles. Conker had the best visuals of the N64 and PS1 era.
ChubbyGuy40
youtube dead or alive 3, god of war 2, black, dead or alive vollyball gameplay. Ps2 & xbox crushed gamecube
Youtube Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Remake, Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess (Easily owns any PS2 or Xbox game,) F-Zero GX, Rogue Squadron 3, Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime 2, and hell even Metroid Prime 1.
Xbox and PS2 had nothing on Gamecube's visuals.
Meh im going to have to disagree. Although I do agree RE4 on the Gamecube was the single best looking game last generation. Ninja Gaiden and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory on the Xbox looked better then most of anything you saw on the Gamecube. And God of War 2 on the PS2 did as well.

Ok. Based on those "leaked" specs, then the answer is still the same. The Wii2/Project Cafe will only be slightly better than the PS3. The PS3 is not even close to an i7 and a GTX 580, which is what the hardware is for the videos released so far. Then add in that those videos' content isn't even maxed out, and it is clear... oh so clear... that the Wii2/Project Cafe will not be able to run the game at 60 FPS at a graphical level near to what has been shown so far. Add in that the hardware will be new and therefor a tad difficult for the devs to optimize (seeing as how the 360 has had 6ish years for devs to optimize that hardware and they can barely get 60 FPS in games at even sub HD resolutions).
I just lol at people like this that buy into the hype for console hardware. I'm sure you though everything this gen on consoles was going to be 1080p at 60 FPS... Just get a PC and play the game on the proper system with up to 64 players, better graphics, more than 60 FPS, dedicated servers, mouse and keyboard as well as any other input device you can think of, etc..
ChubbyGuy40
Except a pc with equivlent specs compared to the Wii2/project cafe would get utterly smoked by a console as it can be far better optmized. And only slighty more powerful then a PS3? It has 3x more Ram , faste ram thats in pretty much any pc and a far more powerful GPU. And if Nintendo is coming with something like this imagine what the PS4 and next Xbox will do. They will have games that make BF3 look average at best.

And sorry but Uncharted 2 isnt justing using more blur and pop in then Uncharted 1. Its got better textures, better geometry, better lighting and well you get my point. I can name dozens of examples. Saying that games dont get any better looking on consoles is just ridiculous.

[QUOTE="arto1223"]
Ummm... no... and neither have you. They have yet to be released (unless I am missing out on something, which I'm sure I'm not since info like that would be on the front page of every gaming site).
arto1223
Thats funny becaue the leaked specks of both the Gamecube , PS2 and Xbox before E3 were almost dead on.
