Arkham Asylum is Awesome

Pros:

  • Neat, gritty, realistic environment is perfect for Batman
  • Tons of little extras
  • Awesome characters--even the minor characters are great
  • Mark Hamill Joker
  • Perfect voice acting for almost all characters (again: Mark Hamill Joker)
  • Great story

Cons:

  • Story feels short
  • Kevin Conroy's voice not as good as in the animated series for some reason
  • Some classic Batman villains show up but aren't actually fought
  • Boss fights are easy and repetitive

Overall, 9.0. Awesome game; can't wait until Arkham City comes out.

The Modern Scrooges

When we're reading a book, or watching a movie, and somebody says something along these lines--Scrooge, from A Christmas Carol, for example--we think, Gee, what a disgusting character; I hope (s)he gets Karma in the end.

Someone says it in real life, throes of citizens flock to their defense.

In books, people who argue for taking as much resources as possible from the poor to give to the rich are invariably the bad guys (Sheriff of Nottingham, Scrooge, et al).

In real life, people who make the exact same arguments are elected to public office.

Why the discrepency? Why do we put up with these people? It makes no sense to me.

So my friend (sort of) had a psychotic breakdown. . .

So this girl I used to know back in junior high went nuts today. Lately she'd been posting some crazy things on Facebook, but she's always had a jokular personality, so I thought it was just a bunch of wacky randomness; but today I get a call from her mom saying she's in the psych ward and that she wrote an incomprehensible letter to me and was adamant about contacting me and me only.

Did I mention that we haven't seen or spoken to eachother outside of the occasional "hello" online since I was in high school, years and years ago?

It's really got me unnerved.

Just got back from her memorial

*sigh* :( A bunch of people I haven't seen in years + bunch of pictures of her in her happy moments + excellent eulogy from her son + sad music =

I'll miss you, Mrs. Judy. :(
