"Help! My eight-year-old likes to watch porn!"

Gotta love idiots.

Authorities in central Ohio have their own stories about oddball 911 calls similar to the recent one in Florida by a man upset about his Subway sandwich.

Columbus police say they got one roughly two months ago from a woman unhappy with her fast-food hamburger. Lt. Brent Mull in the police radio room says the restaurant remade the burger but the customer still wasn't satisfied.

Mull says other "emergency" calls have come from a mother who wanted police to do something about her 8-year-old who liked watching porn, and from workers reporting violations of office rules.

Franklin County Sheriff's Lt. Karen Cotner says all calls about potential crimes must be taken seriously.

The Florida Subway customer was charged with making false 911 calls.

I'm back!

Well, I'm back from my war in Beijing. It didn't go so well. But the good news is: I found the Holy Grail. Turns out the Shaolin Monks were hiding it. Bald bastards.:x

I ordered two new books from Amazon.com: Black and Red. They should be arriving today (I got the free trial for Amazon Prime, so two-day shipping is free).

My mom got a new e-mail address and is now going through the work of making a new address book.

I Declare War on Beijing

So my mom calls late one evening, and asks if I've been in her e-mail address. I answer "no," as I haven't touched her e-mail address in months. She tells me that somebody using her account has sent out ridiculous "NEW LIFE" spam to every single one of her contacts (numbering in the hundreds).

Later on, she calls me again. Come to find out, it was done by some elctronics company in Beijing, China. Also come to find out, they deleted her entire address book, with the hundreds of addresses in it.

She is pre-frantic about her good name being tarnished and her addresses completely gone.

So I do what any level-headed, rational son would do, and I declare war on Beijing. I ship out tomorrow; I'll just tell my family that I'm hunting for the Holy Grail again. They always buy that one.

The Christ Myth Myth

In the topic about Jesus in OT, 59 people voted that they believe Jesus was a fictional character.

This is due to a popular myth called the Christ Myth, and is simply false. This myth stems from a complete misunderstanding of historical study, or flat-out lies and fabrications (see: Zeitgeist). One central criticism of the existence of Jesus is that there's no evidence: False.

In that link, there is a picture with the letter "M." (Scroll up) Click that picture, and it will open a 35-minute movie (made by an atheist) that describes the non-Biblical evidence for Jesus Christ's existence. As if the Bible doesn't count as evidence because xyz excuse.

I would write out a bunch of points here, but I had a bad night and am exhausted.

Four Word Review of The Dark Knight

I just got back from seeing The Dark Knight. It's 10:11 PM, and I'm sitting here, at my computer, staring at the screen, trying to think up a long, succint review that not only captures the gist of the film, but my opinions of it all in one fell swoop. And I decided that I can do all that with just four simple words. So here it is; enjoy my spoiler-free review of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight:

It was freakin' awesome.

Me? Anti-Science? Surely You Jest!

I'm getting a few observations saying that I seem to be against the Scientific Method, or that I'm even anti-science. Nothing could be further from the truth!

What I'm against is scientism, which is an opposition embraced by any real lover of science. Science is no religion. Science is meant to study nature and natural processes, but some people take it into the metaphysical (which is against science, as science requires methodological naturalism to work properly) and distort the meaning and purpose of science. This is what I'm against.

I love science. I am not against it. I just know science's place in the world, and I prefer to keep it there and not let it overlap other places. Any scientist should oppose turning science into a philosophy.
