I just read on Kotaku in an interview with the VP they said that you can only buy and sell used games via Microsoft and the used price is...FULL price.
First they said it had to be always connected to the internet. Then they said it didn't. Now they say it doesn't BU T it has to be every single day? So how is that not having to have it connected to the internet all the time?
"By having it as a consistent part of every Xbox One, game and entertainment creators can build experiences that assume the availability of voice, gesture and natural sensing, leading to unrivaled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for you."
I'm translating that mentally to : Now we can force you to have to use Kinect
My first impression. Microsoft is more interested in a social media/televison box that happens to play games rather than an actual gaming console. Maybe they'll improve that impression at E3.
I think regardless of how prevalent piracy is or isn't, the bigger problem is that the industry solutions to it have only ended up punishing their paying customers.
Wow and it only took months of gamer outrage to trigger any kind of response. I don't believe this was an internal memo. It sounds like it was specifically designed to ease gamers anger over the controversy.
Of course Microsoft seems to be focusing on everything but games next generation so I'm not overly reassured yet.
I'm getting tired of companies telling me what I love. Apparently I love microtransactions, I love free-to-play (pay-to-win) games, and now I LOVE always on DRM cosntant connections.
How exactly does having to be connected to play a single player benefit ME? How does having to be connected to do EVERYTHING benefit me?
I never even thought about the potential for the next xbox to use the always-on feature to record what I'm doing and when. But I guess that would make sense with the always on kinect and that article with the potential for it to be listening in to my conversations and watching me in my house.
