Jokes aside, I think making a Deus Ex movie is a rather GOOD idea. Deus Ex's conspiracy story really fits well into a story conspiracy movie that will make your head ache for days thinking about what the hell was going on in that movie!
But I was kinda dissapointed when I saw the guy from Hitman is workingon this, the Hitman movie sucked.
I have to disagree with you, Gareth. Soundtracks today ARE memorable. I can easily identify Uncharted 2's theme, as well as Batlefield 3's booming sound, as well as the Elder Scrolls melody.
Your beef with them is merely nostalgia. You grew up playing games like Sonic and Mario and as such remember them better. So you are wrong on that account.
But I too am obssessed with Video Game Music. So much that I barely listen to normal songs anymore, they seem so... stale :P

Metal Gear Solid ( THE BEST IS YET TO COME AND Father and Son WOOT!!)
Legend of Zelda theme.
All of the Final Fantasy 1 songs, they are just awesome.
The Elder Scrolls medley (The one used in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim).
Megaman X, great soundtrack.
Tekken 5 (The Moonlight stage was breathtaking!)
Kingdom Hearts (Also the song that is played in the second half of the vid is KH's theme from the first game)
Shadow of The Colossus -- Exciting yet touching.
Sonic - Because of the adrenaline rush.
And so many, many more....
Video Games have so many great things to them BESIDES the basic gameplay... It's just a whole package that blows you away.
I STILL think making an Assassin's Creed movie is a bad idea... I let PoP slide for me because it's really simplistic and magical, yet somehow Disney found a way to screw with us anyway.
Assassin's Creed is a story about a conspiracy that hides in our everyday life, a secret battle waging for centuries between to sides fighting for control, and in the middle of it there is a prophecy about the end of the world.
This is a blockbuster movie production, getting Fastbender just proves it. They are probably just going to ignore all of that fascinating story and focus on everyone's favourite renaissance vigilante killing someone important.

You do realize not everyone owns a PS1/PS2/ PS3/PSP at all times, Right? Some sell it due to money issues, some lost it, some gave it away, some stopped working, some never were part of the PlayStation family and want to try some oldy-but-goody classics, yet do not see the point in buying 3 different consoles.
I, for one, have a gigantic PS2 collection, and I was very depressed when I found out the Slim PS3 I bought had backward compability removed. It was a feature I really expected as switching ports all the time and going back to DualShock 2 is not on my priority list.
Maybe you don't care about old games, but alot of us do. And seeing how the Blu-Ray seems to STILL be in the business for SONY, I really don't see WHY would they not make it PS3-compatible.
It is these kinds of developers that make me look at video games, and say " Games are so much more than just simple-minded entertaintment.. They can be an experience."
Honestly, I would NEVER replace Metal Gear Solid with a movie adaption of it. It just doesn't work. MGS was built around the idea that a game can have a deep philosophy and meaning, to take that into movies like saying "Games are nice but they still fail as art and as such we need to degrade ourselves to movies in order to reall have it appreciated."
MGS and Shadow Of the Colossus proved everyone who thought that wrong.
This is why I'm pissed off when someone says about a game "They should make a movie out of it!". Why? Why would you degrade it into a 2-3 hour Blockbuster shitfest? That's not right.
There's the Freedom edition, which comes with the same figurine, medal, and in-game content. Only thing it doesn't have is a flag. But it's ALOT cheaper.
