@Fiscaldeal I'd like to hear how so, not out of sarcasm but genuine interest.

And while the name of the developer certainly affected the sales, if it was a bad game it wouldn't get a sequel, multiple in fact, now would it?

There is a reason why Bethesda even decided to buy the right to Fallout and personally develop it, after all.

Yes, it is a lose-lose situation, but I prefer the one that doesn't support these practices than being my own hypocrite, whining about something while continuing to consume it. That's just the dumbest of dumb moves.

@Dark_Mits @Tseng Its' been many years since FF7. The game, good as it was, is becoming dated, the models look ugly and are hard to sympathize with when they are walking polygons. Same thing happened to me with MGS1, luckily alot of the impact was given through gameplay and codecs in that game.

Aerith's death isn't nearly as sad when the whole scene just looks silly.

Sure, for people who played it as kids, it doesn't matter much, they played it as kids where it was the pinnacle of graphic technology, so it wasn't a bother.

But for people who never played FFVII, it will be apparent and a possible obstacle. Sure, the game is good enough to ignore that, but it's still affecting. Imagine the fully voiced dialogues and beautiful HD renditions of the most iconic scenes in the game.

That alone is worth it, so long as it's faithful.

@CoRiNi @TohouAsura "it just gives me the feeling that I'm actually playing a Japanese game, and that's a feeling I sure love. "

LOL I can definately relate to that. It can make me feel uncomfortable at times, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoyed it or took a peek in some of the more... sleazy fanservices, dohohoh.

NOT the type of games you play when people are around.

And I don't agree with that last statement, people want JRPGs back. Xbox releases would probably not bear much fruit, but PS3/Vita/ WiiU releases could be successful, hell even PC.

Limiting themselves to one gimmicky handheld like the 3DS just seems wasteful. I mean, unless you're an avid Nintendo games fan or love playing remakes of games you already played, there really is no reason to buy a 3DS as of now.

Plus it's kinda stupid. Persona 1/2 were on PS1. Persona 3/4 and SMT 3 were on PS2, The Persona spin off fighting game was on Vita, Xbox and PS3, Devil survivor & Strange Journey is on DS, and now they are on 3DS.

Why can't they just stick with one console line, either handheld or home. It's just like Square Enix is with Kingdom Hearts, you would need all consoles from all recent generations to play their games... It's tiresome and annoying.

And I think a canon game in the main series should be a home one, but that's my personal preference. I could see why they would choose it to be mobile, though.

"In response to the financials, Square Enix pledged to increase the turnover of its titles, increase its amount of mobile and tablet games, and create titles more specifically suited for the regions they are primarily being sold in; "

"Durrrr, Our good games sold well but we wasted too much money on the shitty ones so we'll resort to making more shitty phone games that abuse the under-developed brains of children to make a sleazy profit!"

And here I thought that as a Japanese company, they would at least have some code of honor.

Only comes to show stereotypes are a load of bull.

@pllariviere "games full of metro-sexual individuals and pre-teen she-male-like heroes. "

Do you even JRPG??

Kidding, of course, but it's a cultural thing, just like their animes and VNs.

I do love it when they make a serious game though, Yakuza for example... Ahh, why aren't there more of those..

@firehawk998 Totally, From Software comparison is the classic case of Budget-by-value rates.

From Software is a small team that developed niche games. They knew their market isn't large, and planned accordingly the budget. Advertising for the Souls was apparent, but minimal. Maybe a couple of online trailers and a facebook announcement. Practically priceless.

SE, like you said, seems to try and complete with Pixar. Full length CGI films, Huge site advertisements on the biggest websites, TV Spots (You guys have any idea how much does a TV spot cost?), and aggressive marketing. All of them money consumers. Alot of manpower and budget gone to waste.

The games themselves don't cost nearly that much to make. Really, you can develop these games at home with the right knowledge and software, there is no magic trick here. It's the trademarking and workers wages that make the difference.

This is why a small team like FS, that at best evaluated 300K sales for the game, AT BEST, considers over 2M a massive success worthy of an immediate sequel, and SE, who had to sell at least 5M just to break even with all that money wasted, goes HuHa and lays people off because they wasted all their money on crap no one cares about.

I buy games to play them SE, not just watch pretty CG.

@Xily "Out of all the huge publishers, Square Enix is the one I bash the most when it comes to poor money making decisions."

Naahh, I'd sooner choose SEGA.

Churning out shitty games and ruining their good ones isn't a very smart business decision.

Also, I have a grudge against them for not releasing Yakuza Kenzan! and Yakuza 5 in the west :(

They released the goddamn Zombie spin off, but not the canon 5th game, who's rumoured to be the largest and most interesting of the bunch?! BAHH

@Fiscaldeal @TohouAsura That still doesn't make the other option more valid. Yes, Metro is unique, that's why I like it. I also like Post-apocalyptic games in general.

There will always be a market for these games. Fallout sold very well.

It may or may not send the message, but I refuse to get ripped off. It's a personal choice and i'm not entitled to give them a single penny of what it's worth.

If the developers want to treat me this way, then I shall reply in kind aswell. I am also waiting for gameplay videos of The Witcher 3 before I pre-order it, but i'm already ready to do so. But even if CDProjekt would announce such practice is apparent within their game, I will do the same thing and cancel any plans to support them, as much as I love the games. Because such practices hurt fellow gamers and people without the means to spend the extra dosh, and I will not stand for it.
