[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]I think the thing that makes competitive Smash worse than most other games for other consoles is the fact that competitive Smash goes directly against the spirit of the game. It's a multi-man brawler, full of colorful explosions and wacky stuff. When you go into Smash tourneys they cut like 4/5ths of the game content, where that meme of "No Items, Fox/MetaKnight only, Final Destination." In other words, the Stop Having Fun Guy.kenakuma
Yup, I hate when people play no items and FD, it completly sucks the fun out of the game. I like playing Super Smash Bros. only when there are people to enjoy it with. Keep the tourneys to games like SF4, Tekken, or Virtua Fighter.
Agree 100%, thats exactly what I said!
I get really competitive with fighting games like Street Fighter, and its fun as me and a couple of my freinds have been playing all the Street Fighters competitievly for years and years! Those games are designed more for competitive play and its funner to play them like that!
Now when it comes to brawl me and my freinds tried to get super competitive in it when it first came out (using no items, same boring level over and over again, no smash balls, set rules, ect) and it just felt horrible! After a week though we figured it out and threw that way of thinking out the window and now we enjoy the game waaaaaaay more and play it on a weekly basis, all the items, all the levels, super fun party game!
Why can't it be both? I'm a competitive kind of guy, but I can do the free-for-all party thing sometimes. Its versatility is part of the appeal of the game, but some people try and turn it into a negative. :?
