I think you pretty much nailed it right on the head for the most part. :P Maybe switch Too Human with Halo Wars, since its, you know, Halo.

Stevo_the_gamer

Except that Halo Wars wasn't a universal flop -- Halo Wars has an AA ranking on Gamerankings and Metacritic. Gamespot really dropped the ball with the review.

...Just like TP.

Too Human's hype also wasn't very high near its release. I don't know if Halo Wars was the biggest, but it was bigger.

Well, I wasn't going to buy the game, but now that I've heard this, I'll buy two copies! :o

Actually Activision, you can keep your garbage. I don't think anyone cares.

This is definitely the first time ever I've seen a lazy port. :|

Move along, desperate ones.

I've never been into the whole obligatory mid-gen console redesign thing. Thisis just what Sony needed...two years ago. :?

As for SW Bets... It still exists in a different form, but nobody cared to keep on going with it.

I remember that project. We got an offer to help in its creation, but IMO it was doomed from the start. Did it ever even get a thread in SW?

Honestly, I don't really know what happened back when Nintendo Bets came down. I wasn't a mod then. All I really have to go on is the discussions that occured when the Nintendo Dream union created "Risk"...as far as I know they were told that it was all fine as long as they used the right wording.

However I'm not really surprised that everything was nuked once legal got involved. They probably wanted to make sure that anything that would give them liability would be removed for good, and were worried about the huge number of places in the thread that there might have been references to "betting". But that's just a guess on my part...

Ah, I forgot about that. That was probably a good time not to be a mod. :P

But to not even consider that option, hell, even just to warn us about the legal issue beforehand (we literally logged on one day and everything was gone)...no matter what the order was from CNET, the situation was handled terribly.

But anyway, soRisk is fine then? 'Cause there was that issue aboutmentioning Nintendo Points (which I removed after) andthe thread getting locked (which I unlocked), and that was the last we heard about it. Just making sure.

As I said, I doubt GS had anything to do with it. They probably just got some notice from CNET ordering them to take drastic action. There's a reason CNET isn't exactly viewed as a respectable and amiable corporation.Verge_6

Surely they got the order to deal with the issue one way or another, but with such an easy fix as an option, some of the blame has to lie with GS.

Well like I said the only real problem with it was the fact that it had the word "bets" in the title. If someone wanted to bring it back, it would be fine as long as it had a different title and didn't mention "gambling" anywhere (and as long you werent' wagering money, of course :P).

Verge_6

If that was really the only problem, I wonder why we had to delete every trace of the thread's existence, including the union, the signatures and a ton of memories and records, instead of, you know, asking us to change the name...

You'd know more than I would; do the admins realize they screwed up and failed the community here?

You can blame CNET and its gestapo of a legal team for that.

Lawl. I suppose. "Legal" is a scary word when it comes to something like this, and it's clear that GS hit panic mode and didn't consider any other options. I just want to know if they recognize that what they did was a mistake.
