Built Ford Tough...err...Nintendo Tough

oops.

Well my Mariners jacket was well overdue to being cleaned, so I threw it in the wash last night. Little did I remember, but I had my GBA SP carrying case in the front pocket. Inside the case was my Gradius: Galaxies game. The whole fricken time my jacket was in the wash, I was scouring my room trying to find where I had put that stupid case and the game. My SP was in my pocket -- but where was Gradius? I figured I had left it in the car or something.

So I take my jacket out and hung it up to dry. Then I suddenly came to a revelation, went into a panic and tore into my pocket jackets. Lo and behold, my soaking wet SP carrying case lay drowining in a big polyester mess. I took out Gradius, which was also sopping wet. I assumed I'd have to replace it. But I let it dry for half an hour and threw it in my SP preparing for the worst.

It started right up! The game works!

My first thought was how in the hell. My second thought was to give Nintendo a medal for creating such a fricken durable cartridge. With the old NES cartridges, if you breathed wrong they'd stop working. This little baby went through spin cycle with soap and still runs like a dream.

MAD props Nintendo.

High Speed Here We Come

So I'm moving out on my own to an apartment in a week.

What's the best part about moving out? ...other than living by yourself, answering to no one, having everything where and how you want it?

HIGH SPEED INTERNET!

At my folks house, where I currently live, I'm on 28.8 dialup. Yep, you heard me, DIAL-UP. Online gaming is not an option. I tried, I used to play Team Fortress Classic, but it was just too painful. I got so used to lag when I went to play TFC at a friend's house on Cable, I got the snot beaten out of me because my timing was so off. It was all too fast!

Now granted, I probably won't be able to afford it for a month or so. But once I can, I'm getting Comcast High Speed internet. Online gaming goodness here I come!

I've never really been into MMORPGs, they've never interested me at all. But I WILL be getting World of Warcraft. I've seen that game in action. It makes me drool. That game could own my soul the way EQ does so many people. Other than that, I'll just be playing Freelancer, Half-Life mods and such online. But it'll be on CABLE! oh my gosh!

currently playing: Silent Hill 3 (PS2). I'm not that far into it, but I like what I see. Expect a first impressions post soon.

Blue Light Specials

mmm. I love Kmart.

No, I don't really, mainly because I work there, technically. I'm a sales rep at the T-Mobile booth inside a Kmart in Everett, Washington. I happen to be 6 feet away from the electronics department, which causes me to gaze at whatever movies or games they're throwing on sale for some random "customer appreciation weekend".

Yesterday they threw a craptacular lot of games into the center walkway that were all 50% off. Starting my shift at 11am, I was one of the first people to sift through the games. Most of the games are either crap or ones I already own (or Xbox), but usually there's a good handful of ones I want. Yesterday was no exception.

Rainbow Six 3 (PS2), Max Payne (PS2), and Golden Sun: the Lost Age (GBA)

Total Price: $32.16

Hooray! Gaming goodness at the price only a poor college student can afford. Maybe 2 weeks ago I got Silent Hill 3 (PS2), I-Ninja (PS2) and Gradius: Galaxies (GBA) for almost the exact same price. AND I got a 2nd Wavebird for $15. Life is good. I love cheap department stores who don't know any better.

Currently Playing: Gradius Galaxies. Not much time to do any real gaming lately, so while I'm waiting for Windows 2000 to install on my school computer, I play it. w00t.
