Holes in evolution. people who say that really get my goat, because it just goes to show that they simply don't know enough. the theory is so well corroborated, so well backed-up by evidence that it's considered a scientific fact. This year marks the 150th year since the discovery of evolution, and Charles Darwin's 200th birthday. We have come an extraordinarily long way since then, but the way some people speak on this forum you'd think it really was 150 years ago.
It's not as if the scientific community has a theory, full of holes but they're only keeping it to piss off the christians. No! If there were even the slightest evidence that could prove evolution wrong then it would be discarded by tomorrow morning, and scientists, being what they are, are constantly looking for that counter-evidence. Scientists will discard a theory as soon as it is proven wrong.
Religion on the other hand, is just belief in the supernatural. It can not be proven one way or the other, and while this very quality is often touted as the very thing that makes it untouchable, science only considers those things which can be proven wrong. As is, the question of god remains and will remain a purely metaphysical and philosophical pursuit. It has nothing to do with science, and while I accept it as a part of the world in which we live in, the act of putting creationism into children's science lessons is just a means of indoctrinating/with-holding children in the christian religion, it serves no other purpose.
The creationists will simply take that argument and reverse it, they say that it is those that suggest that evolution is true and the indoctrinators. It is as if we are to take christianity (or one of its close cousins) as the final word on all thought and philosophy in the western world, and anything else is strange
The real scientists don't really care about the ridiculous debate, they will get on with their work as they have always done. The debate is only waging war for the classroom, and what is taught to your children... because the religious leaders are threatened by science, so now want to warp it to their interests before its application in schools.
Finally on a different but related point, just because there are gaps in our knowledge doesn't mean we should abandon our search to fill those gaps in favour of religion. Religions are quite artistic and wonderful in their design, they leave nothing out, they explain everything and leave few questions unanswered. But what you've got to understand is that they are nothing more than asides to the reality and objectivity of the true religious experience, which transcends these petty differences in doctrine and knowledge. Take LSD and you will realise the true nature of religion, an inherent part of us as humans, but sod the ten commandments.
If you want real truth however, or as close to real truth as you will ever get, the only place to go is science. And don't just go straight to evolution, read about newton and faraday and planck and kelvin and the basic principles behind science. And you will see the truth and beauty of it, and the same truth and beauty can be seen in evolution, in particle physics, in cosmology... and in all scientific disciplines that consider things which can be proven wrong. Creationism can not be proven wrong, and therefore it will never be a scientific discipline.
There is no 9/11 conspiracy. There is only a group of people on the internet that refuse to accept that 9/11 was perpetrated by a bunch of pissed off Muslims.famicommander

and then there's you... someone who just quotes soundbytes from an entertainment program. im sure you clearly run your life by south park, and due to this feel no need to take any interest in what the conspiracy theorists are saying... a lot of it quite interesting.
there's a reason the 9/11 conspiracy isn't going away.
some people are dismissing it based on it being too outlandish, and thinking its all about war. its about so much more than that. read into the neocon agenda... educate yourself and seek information. there's so much that needs to be thought about... but no you're in a world of saturating entertainment... and the corporate media. civil liberties are being stripped away... that is a fact. there are many other facts out there, and many reasons why all this should be of interest to you... and all of you who simply dismiss everything off-hand. make your own opinions instead of following the majority influence.
*raises hand* You don't have to be a raving patriot or anything. Just stop complaining when I tell you to remove your hat for the national anthem at a baseball game.famicommander
**** off... thought police
I think honestly, anybody that played it at the time of its release or shortly after, will always have high regard for it. Playing it years later will tarnish what was originally intended. I loved it. It left an impression on me that will never be lifted.CassiusGaius
well said. though it is still today in my opinion a worthy game
[QUOTE="thrones"][QUOTE="Miyomatic"][QUOTE="thrones"]Played it, sold it for £5, moved on. Not a game worthy of keeping in my collection :|Miyomatic
