okay i think we can all state that the 360 was the first and probably the ONLY console to have achievments for acomplishing things in a certain game.agreed? okay, now lets talk about the consoles shall we? the wii has not tried to make a clone of avievments, no problem their doing their own and original thing. but on the other hand theirs the ps3.. and what have they "come up with"?........trophies which are EXACTLY like achievements...... only downgraded. apparently in games like GTA4 and DMC4 you get trophies for acomplishing things. sound familiar? i mean why cant sony come up with their own ideas once in a while?
E.G
The motion six axis controller (wiimote)
and the trophies. (which ofcourse arent as good as achievments :))
so please sony......be original

What's wrong with giving more to the consumer? I mean I guess at the end of the day we're all winning if these companies are breaking out everything to win over their customers. Or are you one of those people who would like one console to dominate?
More quality adventure games came out in 2007 than any year preceeding it. Check out freeware adventure games, ok theres a lot of crap but theres a lot of good there too. http://www.darscom.net/top_ten_freeware_adventure_games.html is a good place to start... but just shop around. The advent of the internet and the open source revolution is allowing many people to express their creativity which is a wonderful thing, though a lot of it goes unnoticed.
Stop being bound to commercial releases... freeware games are foremost free and can often be excellent.
I just don't understand... can someone please... speaking to someone who doesn't own an xbox please tell me what these glorious attributes are that define xbox live as supremely dominating as recognised unquestioningly by all, fanboy and non-fanboy alike...
though I'll say now speaking as a user on the british psn servers over in in britland the lag is infrequent and the setup good.. in fact joining games and navigating menus is far smoother than what xbox 360 live menus are like...
If I had me a good pc I tell ya. whooee id have a damn fine latest pc there is and an internet connection over anything else in the world
internet means freeware means
free customisation of your computer to entirely suit your needs in every respect forever
means lots of games... and you can get games for cheap through steam... and I tell you a steam account is amazing thing it gives you access to all your games it feels safe... you actually feel rewarded for being a loyal follower of the law and purchasing the games. It's excellent it gives you something that is yours and yours forever even if you're on another computer. The fact that steam is free and will go on any gaming pc then in a sense already smashes xbox live and psn combined... and then the whole information highway that is the internet multiplies that by a billion gazillion beyond your wildest dreams...
you can turn your pc into whatever you want with the right hardware... and hell you can get a lot better sound with your pc for a lot cheaper than you can a home cinema.. your immersion factor in your video games is huge... with the screen all close like that you get a big portion of your view dominated by the sweet sweet graphics of modern gaming, you gotta pay for it but theres so much you can use a performance pc for where you dont have to pay.
like all the glorious freeware and experimental stuff thats out there
you can have a gamepad if you want to... and while im sure thats very good for some games... pc games are mainly designed to make use of the huge keyboard in front of you... and it works remarkably well you know especially in like a simulator game it can be really damn good fun to get used to all the controls of real spacecraft with amazing graphics and fly amazingly through the atmosphere and into a stable orbit... everything is goddamn realistic too and there's a million things to think about...
now I bet you if a game like that was announced to come out on ps3 or 360 people would rave and rave and rave about it because its truly that advanced a game thats as good as anything commercial... but not many people have heard of it because its freeware and was made by a physics professor at UCL in london (and for those who aren't familiar with physics departments in the uk there is a huge emphasis on computing and computer programming is taught to all undergrads) and its pretty damn good
sure its more expensive, but you could still do a lot more with a pc thats ready to be thrown out nowadays than you could with a console, even if you dont get the graphics or the latest games... we've all obviously got pcs... check out that freeware! Theres so much of it and some of it will blow your mind and really immerse you
but if you want the best graphics, of course the pc has that, and the best fps and online fps the pc has that, and the huge mod scene some of which can be truly inventive and enthralling... and then you have mmorpgs that mix social interaction, competition and self-advancement with gaming to create some heroin like seratonin release that'll addict your ass off (we've evolved to instinctually maximise seratonin release)
consoles will go... i'm sure of it... sure of it as anything ive ever been sure of... because eventually the pc's scope will push the need for a console right off the map. Either way I'm sure sony and microsoft will both be in a position to be at the forefront of technological research as computers becoming more and more evolved and integrated into our lives... nintendo will turn back to its cards, before some sort of shifting ink card display cards, a mere output of the pc, will have taken that market from them too.
It seems noone so far actually know how it was einstein impacted the world.
Without einstein satellites wouldn't be in orbit... (Bye bye communication age)
Without einstein we wouldn't have nuclear power
Without einstein we wouldn't have a lot of modern science today and its silly that people come on here and say "oh yeah einstein i think probably his intelligence was overrated" without having any idea what the man even did
*holds outlooks based on scientific consensus*Jingo13
what's wrong with believing someone more knowlegable and intelligent than oneself if one is not able to make better observations
while dancing with lucy trippin the light fantastic
wondering whether or not the scientific method has any value
and if some spiritual text is more worthwhile... and then I thought of it like a huge crossword
this huge crossword, contains all the questions, that should fit together and blend into a cohesive and logical understanding... a right answer... the clues filled... an answer sheet to all the questions of reality.
now science doesn't have all the clues filled... though you could go to most religions and they would answer in their own way any question you had about the nature of things... religions may be able to fill up the whole crossword, and sure they might even have made it so the clues all fit together but you can't question the answer. The answer just is... and you accept it as faith. Science can't answer all the questions but the clues that are answered have been verfied with experimental evidence many hundreds of times.
With science you can see the logical progression of thought that led to these answers being introduced and accepted. With religions the truth is presented to you in ancient scriptures, and it is for you to believe it (and this belief is often brought on in early childhood, but can be brought on at any stage in life, and is done normally with an appeal to emotions). Of course you have to make your choice between which line of argument you want. The Scientific Method makes two assumptions (which, like faith, have neither one been disproven), the first is that the universe follows laws, and the second is that we can deduce these laws by observing the universe.
Let's take these back to my original analogy of the crossword... science requires of faith only that the crossword has answers and we can find those answers by observing the clues. With religion you believe what is written down, without question, without ever having it explained to you, just having been presented with this truth.
It's crazy to see these creationists using computers to put up their websites, without understanding that the existance of that website is an extremely powerful testament to the value of the scientific method... whereas with religion the only reward comes after you die... very conveniant. And I would argue that the other benefits like increased sense of wellbeing and the positivity of spirituality on your psyche can be achieved through infinitely more rewarding and fulfilling means.
