[QUOTE="jun_aka_pekto"]

Beats me why people here hate Macs (not just MacBooks) in general.

KHAndAnime

People hate popular things that are overrated by fans. Simple as that. And people don't necessarily hate MacBooks, most people here just simply agree that they're a poor choice if you have any intention to game.

so a 17 inch gaming laptop is better?? with no portability why not just get a desktop?? i still do not understand why it is a poor choice if you want to game... i game on my mac whit no problems... just get bootcamp and you can play all the games you want and have the portability and quality of a mac...

[QUOTE="RK-Mara"]Good portable gaming laptops don't really exist. If you want to play the latest games, you'll have to buy a big desktop replacer that you don't want to carry around and isn't as powerful as a desktop - yet costs more. If you want portability, you'll have to settle for a small screen and low end hardware - and still pay a fortune. The best choice in my opinion is to buy a DS. It's cheap, is extremely portable, has great battery and has a great library of games. The second best choice is to buy a netbook or some other small and inexpensive laptop, and play classic titles from the 90s. Unless of course, you have $2000 laying around for a top of the line Toshiba.sSubZerOo

My friend got a gaming laptop for $900.. Asus.. 360m Nvidia card.. Powerful processor.. At least 4 gigs of ram if memory serves.. Also a 17.6" screen.. Now with this thing he can play games like Crysis amazingly well at high settings.. So no your incorrect there.. You can get a really good laptop for around $900 to $1400.. Not $2000..

17.6inches... what is the point... its not portable at all, why did he not just get a desktop... the battery cant be great either... my whole point is laptops should be portable... i have no trouble running crisis on my macbook and being it is 13 inch i can still bring around with me... if i want to play on the highest settings i can just play on my desktop gaming pc when i get home and play it on a sweet 24 inch display so i can truly appreciate those settings...

I have an older Intel Mac Mini I use for internet and MS Office plus I like having other OSes besides Windows. It's an okay computer although not really something to brag about.

Beats me why people here hate Macs (not just MacBooks) in general. You'd think it one ate their firstborn or something. Of course, there's also the snooty Mac zealots whose noses are stuck so high up. I guess the two groups cancel each other out. One zealot to another.

i agree, i have no idea where all there anger comes from... maybe its just because they cant afford to actually by themselves one and consequently are bitter to the bone...

[QUOTE="ULYSSES2004"]have a good day sir?? lol i love how you speak... i was relying on an article?? have you not understood i am talking about my own experience?? you must be more ignorant than i originally thought... i guess i should just let you be... good day to you too sir, and please do say hello to George Banks if you see him... taraaaa lolMakari
i think they were saying that your own experience was flawed/incomplete (given the examples of other quality PC laptops for cheap), and falling back to the article was.. falling back to the article. i do agree that macbooks are awesome, though!

i was not falling back to the article... how is my own experience flawed? that does not even make sense... all those other laptops are missing out on everything the mac has that make it a better all round laptop... everything i listed in my first comment of why I prefer macbooks to any other laptop i have used, and how those other feature that the macbooks have make more of a difference to your overall use than a little more power does... cheaper pc laptops simply do not have the build quality, and quality all round that you feel when using a mac... and for that quality you pay a premium... i am just saying that i think it is more than worth paying for that quality...

why not just do as i have done and buy a macbook... it plays all the games i want it to, on medium settings, no problems at all... and still small enough to bring it with me everywhere...

thank you big smoke for another good answer... obviously people have different needs and for people like you who need more than two usb ports, who need the possibility of turning your laptop into a tablet, a macbook makes no sense... but what i am referring to is the average user who likes to play games as well... i use my macbook for video editing, games, word processing, and general internet surfing... the macbook pro is solid, it has felt more solid than any other laptop i have held in the shops, and that makes a difference when bringing it around, you do not feel like bits and pieces are going to fall off, or there are weak spots... the battery life is amazing, i am still shocked how long it can go on for. if i lower the brightness and turn off the keyboard lights it lasts so long i can take it with me to university and use it all day without needing to bring my charger... that adds to the portability. if i play games on it it lasts 2 to 3 hours on normal brightness... which is shockingly good... i guess it comes down to people prioritising different needs... mine was portability, but with the possibility of gaming too... i think people are wrong when they say they are overpriced just because you can get more power for the same price with a laptop... people need to realise there is more to a computer than just power... and that those other things may actually make more of an impact on you than that little bit more of power you have... as for saying that my macbook will probably last longer than your hp, it is not irrelevant... macs are known for lasting years and years... you pay more for a laptop that lasts you longer...

Because Mac users are so snobby, irritating and they are constantly "showing off" their "amazing hardware and OS" when you can't even run Portal at a constant 30 FPS on High settings on a MacBook Pro.

KillerJuan77
they are showing off because of how much they love it... do you think they have no reason for loving it??

[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="ULYSSES2004"] well obviously portability is not an issue to you but i like to bring my macbook around with me... also the battery life is better on my macbook... truth is if i want to play games on the highest settings i have a desktop for that... before i had a macbook pro i had a 17inch sony vaio... it was a misery, so big, so heavy, battery life practically zero... 13 inch is the perfect size for a laptop in my opinion, anything bigger is too big... so i guess it comes down to what is more important for you... i looked into the asus before buying a macbook, but after my 17inch laptop portability and battery life were essential... and games play sweetly on my macbook, all settings on medium it is no problem...

Portability is an issue for me, this is a computer I intend on carrying for work purposes. The laptop is by no means a weighty monolith, I'm using it on my lap at the moment, and fits into a couple of bags of mine for transportation just fine; nor does it weigh a ton. The downside being its profile makes it thicker than most laptops, to make up for the hardware inside of it, and ventilation. Battery life better? Well I don't know, I can't make a judgement as I don't have one, however I can get longevity out of it running on the 'office' work mode, which I am now, more so on the battery saving mode. As I said. "Nope, as far as a laptop is concerned, it's great, and for me the far superior option in every way imaginable." and that's what it is. Can I take this about with me and play e.g. Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the highest settings at 1080p, with a nice framerate? Yes. Can I travel internationally with a gaming PC? Yes. Am I willing to sacrifice a lower profile, less weight and more battery (at a lower clock speed) for more performance? Yes. Am I getting something that well priced next to laptops which charge an absolute premium, ala bang for my buck? Yes. Your macbook might be perfect for your needs, however your needs sure as hell aren't everyone else's. I've used macintosh computers for many years now, and while I see the appeal it doesn't fit my requirements whatsoever. Go figure.

thank you for the first decent answer of the day... i guess i spoke to soon where saying your all ignorant sheep...
