[QUOTE="edinsftw"]I would ****fy torchlight more of a hack and slash, along with diablo. Second, MMO have to have lesser graphics to be successful since they need to have a wide audience that can play them. The correlation between him saying consoles are the problem and you saying casuals is because in general, the casuals are on the consoles.

lawlessx

The Old Republic developers have already stated that they are keeping the graphics toned down to reach a wider audience.

Torchlight is a slow and boring walk in the park compared to previous Diablo clones. You can't blame consoles when pc exclusives are clearly moving towards being causal friendly. Have you watched the previews for TOR? It looks like a PS2 game for kids.

You do know that is concerning the specs it would require to run the game...right?

I think he can't grasp that WOW has so many subscribers because of it's very low hardware requirements that would involve to much logic :)

Saying: It looks like a game for kids is exactly what a casual gamer would say. So now you proved you are a casual console gamer who never heard of X3 (just on example of an hardcore exclusive pc game) we know you have no idea what you are talking about.

[QUOTE="UnrealDelusion"] Well i prefered the DOOM 3 graphics over those of Battlefield 2 but my point was last gen it also was a PC game which was the best looking not a console game :)theuncharted34

Agreed. did you see Doom 3 on consoles? It was nasty to look at. I mean really nasty.

what do you mean consoles? it was only on the xbox :? now I don't think you've seen it on xbox. It looked reeeelly good bro.

Then you clearly haven't seen DOOM 3 running on PC. The XBOX version was poop compared to the PC version not even in the same leaugue,

How are consoles to blame when there are console RPG exclusives like Demon's Souls that offer more challenge than pc exclusives like Torchlight?

The real problem is developers going after casuals, not consoles.

The real headline should be: Bioware has officially abandoned their core audience.

dc337

And consoles are the problem because of their limited hardware and control scheme.

So if it wasn't for consoles pc RPGs would all have amazing graphics.......so how do you explain Torchlight? The upcoming Star Wars MMO looks like a ps2 game.

Controls are more of a problem for MMOs where text chatting is part of the game or RTS where a mouse makes selecting and moving units a lot easier. Again the problem is casuals, not consoles.

Casuals being people who game on consoles and thus we're back at the consoles.

Yea but its the developers choice to make such game on the consols. Dont blame the console crowd.

It are the console owners who are whining a game is too complicated or does not have enough action in it.

RE4 on the gamecube still holds up today, and has a great artstyle and probably the best looking game last gen imo. Wait until ico and shadow are re released in 720p, comepletly redone textures, and this time a great framerate :P shadow will look amazing by all standards, just wait.

ChubbyGuy40

The best looking game last gen was Doom 3 on the PC.

Battlefield 2 > Doom 3! Oh wait theres mods damn...Can't use Oblivion or FEAR cause those count as this gen too :x

He said Resident Evil 4 on the gamecube looked better....

theuncharted34

Ouch.

As far as previous-gen console games look, RE4 for the GC it isn't too bad. In fact, I'm thinking of hooking my kid's NGC back up. I know we have NGC RE4 (or was that the Remake?) lying around somewhere. But as far as looks? Not even looking at the low resolution...... RE4 is one of those games with a bland color palette many here grumbled about. In fact, it makes all the KZ games look like a rainbow.

Honestly, I don't think there's a lot of previous-gen games that can hustle around current-gen games except perhaps some older PC games which at least have AA and resolution to help them out.

heres a question: is an rpg a game where you spend tons of time comparing armor sets and skill trees or is it a game where the emphasis is on being a character? i know my answer, but im not sure of everyone elses right now.LoG-Sacrament
According to that logic Mario Bros for the NES is an RPG since you spent the whole game being Mario.

[QUOTE="04dcarraher"]Because of the consoles hardware I havent had the need to upgrade a single part in my Pc since 2008 on a Pc that was built in 2007 for Crysis and the upgrade in 2008 was another gpu for SLI(higher resolution performance) and a memory addition for a 64 bit OS.Game-fu

I blame three things for this:

1) 'Budget' video cards.

2) World of Warcraft

3) The Sims

You blame the wrong things because there is only one thing to blame. CONSOLES!
