You can preety much say I am a huge noob on with guitar. I have been playing for a month and i can only do bits of songs. What i really need help with is understanding tones and distortions. My guitar has a 5 way switch and a tone knob. My amp has overdrive, and also a knob that says chorus, delay, flanger, rev. I don't know what all this is except for overdrive. (but i still dont understand how gain works).

Are there any experts in OT who can give quick explanations on some of these things.

chorus is this weird type of tone that reminds me of an 80's song

delay is...well, delay. when you strum it will play the note and then play the not again only softer, like an echo.

flanger reminds me of outerspace, listen to the song Asthenia by Blink 182, if you want your music to have that space vibe, use a flanger.

Reverb is pretty much just like chorus only...different--ier.

Interesting, a girl from my school just died about a week and a half ago due to meningitis. Pretty scary, she was on the floor right above me and was a teammate of my girlfriend's on the volleyball team.
