@dark_sith_ @ShadowRun02 Eee-gads, incorrect building placement in real locales, fictional environments loosely based on actual places, and hypothetical situations generated from non-existent realities? May God have mercy on us all.
@BeforeLyfe It is true. Gamestop's business model for profitability is directly based off the purchase and redistribution of used games/consoles. Believe it or not, Gamestop (and other similar companies) actually make very little profit off of selling new games for retail price $60. After overhead and other factors are subtracted, they net only a few dollars on average per new game; therefore, in order to sustain profitability, they re-market used games at a premium price. Why do you think so many other companies have adopted this practice (i.e. Best Buy, Amazon, etc) in recent years?
I do agree that the markup for selling used games is ridiculously high, but it does provide an outlet for people who purchase new games, and are low on finances, an opportunity to trade in those games once they're done with them and get something else new/used. Regardless of these points, something will have to be negotiated between developers/retailers to share profit between them because I honestly don't think specialty game retailers such as Gamestop could survive if the next generation of consoles were built to prevent them from being able to take in and resell used games. Also, just for the record, I used to work for Gamestop corporation in case you don't believe me about how much they actually net from the purchase of new games.
I really despise meetings, but you know the saying about there's always an exception. Looks like this would be it for me; how I envy all of you lucky invites.
I will say though that only certain well established developers could even hope to attempt something like this, and Bungie just may be a company that can do it. That being said, my expectations for this game did lower a bit once I got to the part where it said they were trying to make this for the current consoles. Good luck to you, based on what I've read, you're sure as hell going to need it.
@FlameBoyBen How do you unlike? Seriously, it's legitimate to complain that Ni no Kuni is a JRPG? Ni no Kuni wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the genre of JRPGs...WTF?
