well i just ordered a 20 gig hard drive and it arrived today. so if i can afford high speed interwebs and xbox live, i might try to sign up soon. however, if what one of you says is true (that if you have a non xbox live profile already in exisstance, when you sign up for live, you need a new name and all your acheivements from the non live profile cannot be transfered and are lost... then i might not bother)

well, i was up onmyself and thinking it was a good gamer score... till i mentioned my score on the mass effect board and was promptly told its a terrible gamerscore, and that i dont even qualify as a gamer, and that women are bad at games thats why my scores "so low".
it took me a while to get it that big, but i guess compared to alot of gamers it sucks
No it won't. I said this in the other topic you made as well. I had about 10,000 gamerscore or more before I had anything to do with live. I had to change my name/gamertag as the one I was using was taken already and that was all I lost.LRP85
yeah you did say that, but then didnt come back to answer my other questions: ( my gamertag is reallyt random and silly, i doubt its taken. so... if im the only person in the world with this gamer tag, then will my xbox acheivement points be wiped out or not?

ive had my xbox since fall 06, and my gamer score is finially getting respectable (for a girl i guess) , 4300. however, ive never signed up for or used xbox live, and am considering doing so..... however, my gamerprofile only exists on my memory card. someone said when i get on xbox live, it will wipe out my acheivements... is that true? how can i prevent it? really getting worried and emotional over this.. for a long time i didnt care about acheivements, but now that my score is getting so huge, it has me upset: /
You'll still have your acheivements there, I did the same thing a little while back. You wont lose anything in the process. As for game saves just copy, don't move, in case something happens you'll have your game saves backed up.Kakua_Omari

if your gamertag is already in sue then yes... im nto 100% about it but id be careful creating your live acct... try and make sure it uses your old profile instead of creating a new one... then you would lose everythingLocalGod_TM
agaiin... sorry if im being ignorant here. i love videogames.. just not too knowlegeable about them. my gamer tag is already in use... by me. its really random though so i doubt its in use by ANOTHER person on xbox live already. my question is this: the profile i have going on my memory card, and all the acheivements ive been collecting since fall 06.. that CAN be transfered to xbox live, assuming no one else on xbox live already has that name? or..???
