I think this gen is gonna end like this:

Wii at 60 mill units

PS3 at 50 mill units

360 at 25-30 mill units

I think 360 will do steadily okay(not good or bad) for the rest of the gen. PS3 sales WILL speed upwhen price drops follow because a)brandname b)once price is taken out the question, it is the most desirable system for any casua. I think Wii will keep doing good but will slow down a bit.

I think the WII will end out with 100 mil - 150 mil, it's still sold out everywhere, not even I pods can sell that fast. I don't know if Nintendo is artifically holding production down, to keep them supply constrained. However they still sold 6 million in less than a year. 360 will be in second with 50-75 mil the year lead makes all the difference, the PS3 will do 25-35 mil.

There is one question to the TC, does the generation end when one next gen console is sold, or when the sales are negligable on the current generation. PS2 still has life in it, as long as games are being developed for it. It's still selling more than 360and PS3.

I think it ends when ALL the next gen consoles come into play, so it will imo end when the new nintendo, MS, and sony product come out(assuming they all stay in the videogame market)

Pretty much everyone I have talked to and doesnt know much abt gaming. Im not even kidding but they have some kind of conception that ps3 is 3x more powerful than the 360. And everyone knows abt the ps3. Sony is building back its PR after they ruined it. Media is getting impressed by Sony now btw. Its the 360 thats getting the heat now.

And wii is getting sales because it is expanding the market. A lot of ppl regard it as a cool "toy" rather than a gaming system. Trust me, I dont see ps3 losing anywhere and im not a fanboy at all, it just wont happen.

It wont dominate the competition liek the ps2 did but it will do good.

The market is definitely going to expand over last generation.

PS2 and GBC both sold over 115 million, and DS and Wii are easily ahead of that pace.

The PSP is selling very well in terms of hardware, having already sold over 22 million. The redesign and some big titles will boost that even more.

Xbox 360 is selling at a slightly better pace than the original Xbox, with Halo 3 on the way.

PS3 simply isn't selling very well. That doesn't mean it isn't a great system, but I don't see it in anywhere but last in terms of sales. It still gets beaten by GBA in America, Japanese sales are never above 15k weekly, and in Europe it only does about as well as 360. It doesn't have a large enough foothold in any of the markets.

I'm sorry but SW emulation of anything sucks. 60% compatible, what about those games I want to play that are in 40%. That is unacceptable. I have alot of PS2 games that I still want to play. X360 SW B/C is crap, any SWemulator is crap don't let the marketing people fool you. Every SW emulator ever written has some degree of in compatibility. XYZVector

Thats why you should get the 60gb NOW and have hardware emulation;)

Its software emulation in the 80 gig, but it isnt crud like the 360s BC. It has like 50% (That was at firmware 1.6, were on 1.9 now. Dont know the % thats playable at 1.9) of the PS2 library playable without any problems (Thats like 1500 games) It gets better with every firmware update too

The firmware update surely added more BC right? Also do they select what games are playable through the SW emulation or do they just randomly input some code or something and plays random games or somethign:P

My ps2 broke down on me a while back and I want to get a ps3 later on, not now but the 60gb will be prolly out of production when i get a ps3(some time around mgs4s release) and I just want to have a proper ps2 BC:P

Ive played Splinter Cell and think its very boring. Im not just saying that because im a hardcore mgs fan but it just is really boring. It doesnt appeal to me at all. MGS is a lot better to me, not only in gameplay but the epic storyline.

I'm trying to fight it. However I do have to buy a PS2 tommrow, just bought God of War 2 today. So I have to play it. It's really not even a choice look what it's being played on.

I got to play it for 30 minutes, then the video just died. I hadit for6 years, it's been a good PS2...
