All I want to know is - once I have my Kinect device installed in order to get the XBone working - can I then subsequently turn EACH and EVERY Kinect function OFF.
Microsoft certainly put up a rather odd show. I heard some guy on here a week ago describing MS's latest next-gen console plans as nothing more than a massive "living room land-grab", and to be honest I can't think of a better way of putting it. MS seem to have forgotten who their core console buyers are: GAMERS. Gamers want games. If I am to buy a GAMING CONSOLE, I am buying it to PLAY GAMES. And primarily single-player, offline games.
Case in point: An email from Microsoft last week that came into my inbox gave some specs and razzle dazzle about the XBone. It asked one VERY telling question: "Ever wished you could Skype someone AND watch a movie at the same time?".
-_- Uh, no.
That's my point. Just who are they trying to target here? The chronically ADHD who have to be doing sixteen different things at once to feel satiated?!? WHY the f$%&ck would I want to Skype someone during a MOVIE?!? Crap - my cellphone gets switched off at HOME when I'm watching a movie! I participate in one activity at a time, and savor each one to the fullest. And listen up MS - because I do the same with my games.
Go on. Impress me. You're going to have to to make me buy the XBoxOne. And I'm an XBox girl through and through.
I think both the XBone and the PS4 will be very similar in nature - but what I DO take exception to is the way Microsoft are trying to shaft this up your living room's.....well, yeah. I own an X360 for ONE reason and one reason only - to play games. Great games. I don't want it monopolizing my home theater shelf, I don't want it controlling my TV, I don't want to be sitting on the sofa screaming at the television set and waving my arms around like a maniac. Give me a controller and a great game, and I'm happy. I don't like MS's living room monopoly designs. And I'm an X360 girl. :-/
I downloaded and played the demo last night. It feels like an old Tomb Raider style game - what with climbing up and down pipes and cliffs etc. I really hadn't expected this style of game. However, what was worst was that the rest of it seems like a VERY old-school shooter. Pretty uninspired, personality-less characters, the AI in SP is HORRIBLE ("Yeah guys - no probs, y'all just hang out back there, I'll go up ahead and kill everything)......all in all, not impressed. Won't be buying. Nothing revolutionary.
