it was great at the time of release, however u may find it very boring now especially after playing many other games. It will take time to get used to/finding things. Its similar to fallout 3 if u have played that. hands down one of my fav games of all time, especially with mods added in.

StrawberryHill

That's what I was expecting. Plus I didn't enjoy Fallout 3 that much... so I guess I'll skip that one. I don't care about 5 wasted bux, but I want at least to finish the game I'm buying.

You could literally play Oblivion for hundreds of hours and never truly finish it. ;) Especially with mod quests.

You can do everything in Oblivion in 100 hours or less. It's not as huge as people make it out to be, and the modded "quests" are pathetic, at least most of them are. Mods are only good for making the game look better, more character models, more weapons, and whatnot.

How's the half-life on Windows then? Oh wait...

Hahaha, no. I don't know if you were trying to be sarcastic or whatever, but I wasn't talking about games.

I use Windows 7 to play games, I treat it almost like a console. I run Ubuntu on a laptop to do everything else, I treat it like a computer.

PC gamers like to talk about "PC gaming" like as if it is one large, unified platform where everything flows smoothly. This may have been slightly true in the 90's, but nowadays it is broken up into too many competing services. Steam, Direct2Drive, Impulse,GamersGate, OnLive, Gaikai, GFW Live, and now even GOOGLE is trying to enter trhe market by making their own "Google games" service? Yes, just what the PC game industry needs right now. More fragmentation. Oh, and don't forget other websites such as Facebook which have loads of games. Each of these platforms may have their own Friends lists, app store, and other various features which makes divided the PC market further. And lets not forget all the MMOs out there with their own friends lists. As we can see, the PC market is all over the place, its such a mess. Imagine have some friends that use Steam, another that uses OnLive, another that uses Google games, and so forth. Talk about a major headache.

Now, with consoles, things are much nicer. There are only three companies, andjust two of them take their online seriously. So when you want to play console games online, you only need to choose between PS3 and 360... and that's it it. Its so much nicer having th choose between two platforms rather than 20+ of them.

Your thoughts? :)

I agree with you for the most part. I only use Windows for playing PC games, and I don't even bother touching browsers or downloading anything with it... I have my laptop with Ubuntu installed on it for that. Windows seriously is unsafe and subpar at anything besides gaming.

That would literally put me off ordering it.

Why wouldn't you want free stuff? What kind of person rejects handouts?

They seriously need to quit making games... weren't they going out of business or something?

Dragon Age Origin's presentation is strong. The game is strong graphically and has a solid story behind it... but the combat is severely lacking. The combat felt very hands off and the game was more about meticulously choosing class builds than actually playing the game. So I guess if spreadsheeting is your idea of an exciteable challange or you can survive on story alone this game is for you

I agree, but it's like that with most WRPGs (Bioware ones specifically). To me, the typical WRPG format is very limiting, and that's ironic because WRPGs are considered to be very open-ended.

High ratings + High sales should be enough to show that there is something to the game and it has a large following even if you don't particularly like it. I personally got tired of FFXIII because the voice acting was too melodramatic and the gameplay was non-stop fighting. But I can at least acknowledge its a good game even though I don't really like it.

Blue-Sky

Sales don't really have anything to do with whether or not it's a "good" game, rating doesn't really matter either. It's a Bioware game, of course it's going to sell well. It's just unfortunate that Bioware has been making the same game over and over again for most of their existence. The only thing I can really say that I enjoyed in Dragon Age were the Origin stories, some of them were really well executed, the rest of the game was just... bleh.
