Does anyone remember the days when the game industry was, well... nice? I remember when developers used to give away a full 1/3 of a game for FREE before you bought the rest of it. It seems the spirit of the industry has been lost.

Nowhere is this more apparent than the current war for exclusivity. Back when the PS2 reigned supreme, I had it and also a gaming PC. This suited me fine, there was pretty much no game I couldn't play if I wanted it. Now it's a different story. We see games coming out on the 360 but not the PC. Why the hell this would happen is anyone's guess, seeing as Microsoft pretty much owns the PC market as well as the Xbox. It's even worse when you consider games like Halo 1 + 2 and Gears of War were released on PC, only for those who bought them to be told that the sequels won't be and that "all PC gamers are pirates" (I hope Cliff Bleszinski gets a special little corner of hell reserved for him for THAT one).

Just as bad as this is the development of exclusive DLC. I'm going to go out on a limb here and just say this: if you're going to release a game on multiple platforms, you should damn well let both fanbases have the same content. A PS3 game costs the same as an Xbox 360 game, more often than not. You buy theversion for the console you have. Then you get told that the OTHER console's version of the game is in some way better than yours. What's up with that?!? Business practice like this seems to exist for the sole purpose of creating flame wars on internet forums? You think someone is going to buy a whole other console just so they can get a bit of extra content for a game they could just have bought for the console they already own? Don't be ****ing ridiculous.

It seems to me the industry is just getting too competitive when it isn't really necessary. If deals like this didn't go down, there'd be plenty of market share for Microsoft and Sony (I won't go into Nintendo, those guys have a market all of their own). The number of people I know who've been royally screwed just because they bought a game for the wrong system is staggering. Also, I want to make it clear I'm not taking sides. I know Microsoft is the worse offender and Sony needs exclusives to keep up, but frankly I'd love to see the whole practice BANNED. Let everyone play everything, that's my opinion. I can understand never releasing a game on a certain platform, but to cut out fanbase after previously releasing a game there is just not on.

The first paragraph I stopped. This post is fail. Do you not see all of the demoes on the xbox marketplace or on the PSN?

The only reason games were harder in the past is because they were shorter. It's a means of artificially lengthening the play time. Silent-Hal

What is bad about it? The graphics of IX were great, the gameplay was great, the story was decent. Do you just not like the characters? I can understand why you wouldn't be a fan of IX, it's more childish in it's presentation.

I didn't like the pacing, like you said the childish presentation.. the graphics were good for its time, and the characters were a mixed bag.

I agree. And I'm pretty sure that all the game are ready to be released right now. So far there's been a maximum of 4 good games that have been released for any system and now they decide to make us all wait for something good? I'd be really mad if these all turned out to be bad games. And I already have doubts about some of them.

name some then.

The only good Zelda games are 2D. Sonic Team needs to just make a good, basic Sonic game that is entirely in 2D perspective, but that uses the power of the HD consoels to create impressive backdrops to interesting, complicated locations with multiple paths. Obviously Sonic Team can't figure this out which is why SEGA needs to disband Sonic Team and obtain new members.

They should just do a mega man 9.

I am not trying to be a troll here, but I honestly see no appeal to the series that is final fantasy. They may be good games, but I tried FFIX and it was just.. bad.
