Who the hell thinks Civ is a grand strategy game? Civ is a classic 4x game. I mean, there is a reason MOO2, most beloved of all 4x games was called "Civ in Space". Grand Strategy games were a genre that emerged because a portion of the community wanted a deeper experience than Civ.

@ivory_soul: you just came off as uneducated and screaming for attention, and you got it. You don't have any intellectual integrity, because your views are so myopic that they are hard to take seriously at all.

@thedeltaforceking: You don't seem to have your facts straight.

1) Creates empires are only in the game if you save them and then select for that empire to be in the game.

2) The game has only been out for one week.

More importantly, many of the things you list, while true, aren't really amazing features or even unique to Stellaris. For example, hardly any, if any, 4X game kicks you out of the game after 200 years or so. Renaming everything...? Yes, it's nice, but it's not that important.

Beyond that, the game has some pretty fundamental problems as it is. One of the big end game crisis isn't even beatable without mods. Paradox acknowledged the very flaws this reviewer pointed out in today's dev diary.

7/10 is a fair score

Oh look, it's a new COD. I guess that means all the "cool kids" are going to be telling everyone how terrible COD is, despite the fact that it is, and has been since it's release, a pretty solid shooter.

Yes, it's "in space". Should we write off Heinlein and Scalzi for setting their warstories in space as well?

@ivory_soul: that you other them by naming them "ethnics" speaks to your character. Nothing screams cosmopolitanism than referring to people as "ethnics."

@ivory_soul: oh god. Thanks for coming back to this. You clearly have a busy schedule in between composing angst as a service to high schoolers who just can't encapsulate how no one understands them. It's like reading the screenplay for the Room 2 over here. "It's tearing me APART.... Lisa... AGAIN! I don't understand it I don't understand any of it oh hai Mark. "

@RogerioFM: What are you talking about? That unwholsome smut has no place in spaces filled with consenting adults turning other consenting adults into piles of meat by inflicting unspeakable violence against with war machines.

Think about the children.

@phatbuddhaslim: You can create an appropriately levelled and geared character from the main menu. You can jump right in. I still recommend you don't (as it is a flaming pile of shit), but if you really want to, it is easy.

@ivory_soul: Just because you're white doesn't make you any less self-righteous and sanctimonious. It actually puts a really fun accent on it.

Firstly, your grasp of English is distressing. Racism is solely the act of discriminating against someone on the basis of their race (and that "race" and thus "white people" is a social construct and has no real basis in genetics or the greater material world is a completely different matter that maybe you should look into at a later date.) There is no caveat that "except not white people, that's prejudice", because...

Secondly, prejudice is judging something based on your preconceived notions about it, independent of the truth.

Therefore, what you did was BOTH prejudiced and racist.

Lastly, the claim that "white people invented racism" is a highly questionable one. Ignoring that the term "white people" (or its equivalents) have had highly liquid definitions throughout history, Europe, especially NORTHERN Europe (where the really white people live) didn't really get into the "interact with other peoples" game until relatively late and it is wholly suspect that no one in the 5,000 years prior to Northern Europe came on the scene was racist. That is an absurd notion.

It's not about being an uncomfortable "whitie", it's about having perspective and an education enough to understand -- in addition to pretty simply English words-- basic concepts and have the perspective to critically analyse them.

Remember kids, stay in school.
