You can't have it both ways. This is systematic of a larger pandering on the publishing side to make money at the expense of gameplay by making games more "accessible". Developers who make games who are artistic and innovative are relegated to the fringe market, where games with "mass market appeal" come in to dominate the centre. This is pandering to a generation of gamer who has known nothing but always have been "right", you can't blame them for feeling that way after being told implicitly for the duration of the 21st century that they are. It's the market that ruins these games, and the people who care about profits, not the gamers. You do them a disservoce to suggest otherwise.
