Well its an issue with this Lenovo. My other friend brought over his gaming specific Asus laptop. Set Power Options to max performance and never slowed down at all when we unplugged the cord. GPU and CPU stayed exactly the same in Afterburner.

I'm in the process of asking for a return on my new Lenovo. Didn't buy a laptop for it to require a cord all the time.

Yes, the manufactures app for power management is installed and I have it set to max performance.

Yes, I have also messed with tons of different advanced settings. Looked in bios too, which is very basic and offers hardly any options.

I've already sent it in for repair for poor performance on battery. They replaced the motherboard and claimed its fixed; it is obviously not.

Thing is, I've been searching quite a while now online and can find no modern laptop performance tests or even feedback when its running on battery. I can't find a single bit of tangible evidence that today's laptops are capable of running just as fast on battery as plugged in.

And if it does throttle down, can you override the throttling so it runs just as fast on battery as when it is plugged in?

I bought a new Lenovo Y500. Works awesome when plugged in but that's not why I bought a laptop. I want to game on on the move on battery, but when I do so the video card and cpu get throttled way down to slow frequencies. This throttling down seems to be hard locked in firmware or bios because neither the Power Options or nVidia Control Panel setting make a lick of difference.

On battery, the frame rate in most heavy games drop easily by 1/2 due to this annoying throttling.

Can anyone recommend a <$1000 laptop that does NOT throttle down at all when on battery power.

FYI, yes I know battery life and duration will be very low when gaming on battery. I expect this and don't mind.

Thanks for any help.

Been complaining about this for years. I don't game on PC to have smear or popup or other lame limitations. Hence I have not bought or played very many of the console ports we are getting nowadays and I am happy.

I thought GTA4 couldn't get much better but that trailer make GTA5 look like tons of fun.

Now just need to wait for PC version to come out.

Is there a huge improvement in graphics and gameplay or is 2 more like a high quality expansion pack?

On PC, there is nothing like Forza or GT. Really stinks that this is the case.

Closest you might get is Shift or Test Drive Unlimited series but they both lean much more toward arcade handling.

Totally agree. This is very much Dirt 4 on open country roads. Physics and handling have been way toned down to arcade style instead of the norml Forza sim(and this was on sim setting in the demo).

Very disappointed in this game. I can barely tolerate the lame Xgames menus and style (just like Dirt) but the core game has been ruined with arcade handling.

Definitely not buying this game anymore.

I'm a definite hater of Steam, only use it cause I'm forced to if I want to play the game.
