Svenska? Tufft!

Ok, så en blogg på svenska. Underligt.

A whole lotta TV

So the last two weeks I've spent a lot of time catching up on my TV shows, and in general, TV has been great this fall. A big improvment to rhe 2006/2007 season. I'm going to do a small overvie of the shows I've been watching.

Watch out for SPOILERS!!!

America's Next Top Model

So ANTM hasn't been very good this year. It still is a lot of trashy fun, and I do love the photo shoots, but the models are just boring. I love Heather, but that's pretty much it but
she got eliminated now, and the four remaining are just bad, and I want none of them to win. Perhaps Jenah...
Let's hope next cycle is better.

Favorite contestant: Heather

Grade: C+

Desperate Housewives

DH has been great this year. I love Katherine, and I love Bree. Lynette's cancer story was good, and I gnuinely cared for her. I could care less about the Gaby/Victor/Carlos/Edie love drama. Edie has been very annoying this year, which is sad. I don't like the deirection of the Susan/Mike thing either. But the main mystery is fun, and I love that Nathan Fillion has a such a big role. I like it when things are good for him.

Favorite character: Bree

Grade: B+

Dexter

I'm not entirely done with Dexter yet. I'm about halfway through the season, butso far I like it. Season one was better, but things are starting to get exciting. I love Rita and Dexter as usual, and I've actually warmed up to La Guerda. I hate Lila. She's just so anoying. And Doakes has always made me mad. But Dexter still is one of the best shows out there, and Michael C. Hall is still a great actor. Plus, Dexter is hot. :)

Favorite character: Dex

Grade: A-

Heroes

Heroes has been the biggest disapointment this year. Season one was probably the best thing of the 2006/2007 season, but season two has really failed to deliver. It has had some great episodes, especially these last few weeks, but the first five episodes really weren't that great. I hated the Hiro-in-Japan storyline, I hated the Peter-in-Ireland-with-annoying-as-hell-Catilyn storyline. The whole amnesia thing has been used so much in TV lately. It's getting old. Instead I find myself liking my two most hated characters of season one; Matt and Mohinder. The thing that really has saved the season for me are Monica and Elle - two new character who just kicked ass from the beginning. I hated Alejandro, but his sister is ok. It seems as though the writers aren't really on the same standard as the previous year, but if the continue in the same direction as the most recent episodes, Heroes might be great once again.

Favorite character: Elle

Grade: B-

How I Met Your Mother

HIMYM has always been a fun, smart sitcom with great writing and funny characters, and season three is no exception. Still one of the funniest shows around. I don't think it will ever become bad.

Favorite character: Barney

Grade: A

Pushing Daisies

The only new show for me this season is created by one of my favorite TV people, Bryan Fuller who also created Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me, two of my favorite shows. But Pushing Daisies might even be better. From the very first episode, I loved it. I loved the narrator and his funny lines, I loved thecute awkwardness of Ned and the straighorward sweetness of Chuck. By the end of the Pilot, the rest of the characters were ok in my opinion, but once I'd seen the second episode I loved them too. Especially Olive, whom I just brushed off as unimportand just stole my heart with her wonderful version of Hopelessly Devote. Pushing Daisies is easily the most original, best written and acted and in general just the best show this year.

Favorite character: Olive

Grade: A+

Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty's second season isn't as good as the first. I might be because of the fact that season one just came out of nowhere and charmed me like few other series have done, and I'm used to the formula by now, or simply because the writers aren't as good this year. Ugly Betty still is fun and ridiculous, and the characters still are hilarious, but a few storylines have been rather boring. Both Daniel and Alexis are pretty boring this year, and Wilhelmina haven't been her usual evil self. I still Love Betty and Henry, even though their relationship is sort of boring me. I love Amanda and Marc and I love that they are given both more depth and more screentime this year. I adore Cliff, and sometimes wish I was Marc. :) The first episode's revelation of Hilda crying over the fact that Santos actually did die was one of the most tearjerking moment of TV this year!

Favorite character: Betty

Grade: B+

Furthermore, I went to the movies this week and saw Stardust, which was amazing. Next week I'm gonna go see Hairspray, and hopefully it'll be great too. After a few years of nagging from Dave, I've finally started watching Six Feet Under, and I must say I love it. I love the darkness and the quirky humour and the deep characters. I'm loving David the most, which comes somewhat as a surprise. I thought I'd love Brenda the most, but I actually care a lot more for both Dave, Keith and Claire. I don't know why, but I always love the screwed up teenagers who everyone else hate (Dawn Summers, Andrew Van Dekamp, Matt McNamara). Don't know why that is.

Have I said before that Michael C. Hall is damn sexy?

See you some other time, yo.

Gaaah!

Ok, so I'm at home, getting used to the cold and the fact that no one outside my room is yelling something in Spanish, and the fact that instead of dog poo in the streets, there's snow, and all of a sudden I stmble upon mark's blog, and realize the best news ever has passed right udner my nose. Joss has a new show? Gaah! This is like the best new ever, I think, so I decide to read more into it, and what do I find out? Eliza is in it! And she's going to have like a different personality every week. gaaah! I'm sorry for repeating this probably old news, but I'm really so frickin' excited. More Joss on TV. Yayness bigtime.

In other TV news, I have now caught up with America on both ANTM (love Heather, the rest is sort of blah) and Pushin Daisies, which may be one of my alltime favorite shows. I just lvoe the quirky humour, great characters, witty dialogue and overall sweetness of it. I'm in love with Ned, I'm in love with Chuck, I'm in love with Olive and I'm in love with the narrator. Seriously, if you hcan't watched it - start now!

Next up is Heroes, and then either HIMYM or Ugly Betty.

Take care, y'all.

Home Cold Home

Late in the night yesterday, my plane landed in Gothenburg in Sweden. I have been away for eight weeks, and everything feels so strange. The weather is unbelievably cold. Well maybe not, but it does feel strange to go from 18 degrees to three. And it rains. And everyone talks Swedish. Anyway, I've had a real blast in Malaga, and I'm really going to miss all of the wonderful friends I made there. But I'll meet them again, I'm sure.

Today I've just been in heaven, having fun with my brother and sister, meeting one of my best friends, and actually enjoying a meal I didn't cook for myself. I also came home to some movies my dad bought for me in China, and also the complete series of Six Feet Under on DVD, which I'm so excited about finally watching. Now I have a lot of free time on my hands, so I'm going to meet up with a lot of friends, shop for Christmas and catch up on ANTM, Ugly Betty, Heroes, Nip/Tuck, Scrubs, DH, Pushing Daisies, Dexter and How I Met Your Mother... Quite a lot to do, in other words. And I also just retired as editor for Pushing Daisies. I just feel that I don't really have the dicipline to take care of that!

I'm really glad to be back, and I hope you haven't missed me too much. ;)

Spanish Lullaby

Finally - I have access to a computer. I brought my laptop with me to SPain, but something is wrong with my wireless Internet chip thingy, so I haven´t been able to work it, so finally I decided to use the horrible school compters to write you a blog.

Now I´ve been her in sunny Málaga in a week and a half, and I´m loving it. I´m studying Spanish three hours a day, and it both easy and fun. We lay all days at the beach, and it´s totally ok to drink wine on a chool night. I´m in heaven. ;) I was a bit scared when I went, because I´m here with my two best friends in the world, and therefore I thought that we were just going to be with each other all the time, and do nothing but argua about who gets to shower first, but it turns out were are quite good at being social. We have made friends from all part of the world, and only argue about the shower a few times a week.

I wish I could post some pictures, but we forgot our usb drive, so not today. Now er´re going off to the beach to get a nice tan. Be very jealous!

Miss you all

/Love Vik.

So Long, Farewell

As most of you have hopefully heard, I am going away for two months. Me and my two very best friends are going to Malaga in Spain for eight weeks, to study Spanish and have a great deal of fun. I will probably be able to access a computer with Internet, but I don't know how often, and how mucg time I'll have to post a blog or visit your blogs. So I figured this would work as my Bon Voyage blog to myself. I will really miss you guys, but I think I'll survive. I am going to the sunnier parts of Europe after all. I'll go from rain and 10 degrees C to Sun, sun, sun and 30 degrees 30. With my best friends. :D We're gonna study like four hours a day and then just have a blast, swimming, sun bathing, drinking and watching Heroes on my computer. ;)

PS: How great was Dexter by the way? I finally finished season one yesterday, and I loved it. It was so much better than the book, which I still liked! The show had so much more depth and so much better developed character and mysteries. One of last year's highlights! Can't wait for season 2! Which brings me to the one downside of my trip: I will be so behind on all of my shows. :( Ok, not so much a downside when I compare it to the better parts of the next two months. That just means I'll have some stuff to do when I get hoem againa nd wait for University to start.

So I bid you all farewell with a little tune.

I believe in sequels.

Well, not always. But yesterday I went to the cinema for the first time in like forever, and me and some friends watched Shrek the Third. I'm actually a huge fan of the two first Shreks, especially the second. They always managed to please parents and kids alike, as well as sporting great comedy with small cameos and parodies. And most of all, they actually portray real emotions, whilst still being a fairy tale about ogres and tlaking donkeys. I had heard some really bad stuff about the latest installment, so I wasn't all that excited as I'd usually be when I saw it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't have the comedy of the second film, and it lacked some of the sweet story telling and originality of the first. But even though the plot wasn't as great as in its predecessors the funny character and awesome wit and actors made it a great movie. So my hope for good sequels is actually restored with Shrek the Third. I am worried however, because I've heard rumors that they're going to do at least three more movies, and I don't think that has ever ended with a happily ever after.

I would also like to announce that I've found the funniest website in a really long time - MorphThing

This is probably what a lovechild of me and Winona Ryder would look like.

Try it out, it's so much fun. :D

---

Now it's just a little more than a week until I go away for a really long time, so I'm thinking about doing a Bon Voyage blog for myself. ;) Anything special you'd like me to feature in my last blog from Sweden for two months, just tell me.

I've seen it all

What the heck. It was one whole moth between my two last blos, and now there's another one after two days? I don't know what's happened to me. I've suddenly regained the urge to blog. Or eprhaps I've found something to blog about, I don't know.

---

I'd like to begin the blog by writing about a movie I saw yesterday, that touched me like no other film has. The movie in question is Lars Von Trier's 2000 drama Dancer In The Dark starring Björk (my alltime favorite singer) as a woman going blind working in a factory. The movie was really, really depressing, and not something I'd normally enjoy watching, but the character of Selma and the powerful, gripping, tearjerking, amazing eprformance of Björk and all of her song-and-dance scenes really drawed me in like no film has ever before. Selma's imaginative music numbers work as a way to make her reality less horrible, and are all so well made. The end of the movie was probably the hardest thing I've watched in my life, and I cried ten minutes after it was over. Me: the mn with the heart of stone, who's only shed tears to tv or movies twice before -- Once last month during Jonathan's speech in The Prom and once last week to Anya's speech in The Body. I cried and cried and cried. Seriously the most emotional film I've ever seen. Go watch now!

Inspired by Dave's recent blog, I'm going to do a list of my favorite music videos. Yay.

My Top 15 Music Videos:

15. Fiona Apple - Sleep To Dream

A very simple video, but I can't keep my eyes off of Fiona

14. Miss Li - Oh Boy

Again very sinple, but I love the simplicity of it, and the fact that there's an entire band playing in an elevator.

13. Marily Manson - The Nobodies

I love this song very much, and the video really suits it. The whole dark fairy tale feel is great.

12. Spice Girl - Viva Forever

I know, Spice Girls. But the truth is, this is a very cute song, and the video is adorable.

11. Patrick Wolf - Bluebells

The song is about winter becoming spring,a nd I think the video really portrays this, and Patrick looks smashing.

10. Björk - Bachelorette

There's something really mesmerizing about this story-within-a-story I really adore.

9. Placebo - Pure Morning

I don't know why I love this video so much. It could be the plain colors or it could be becaus eof the fact that I'm secretly in love with Brian Molko.

8. Marilyn Manson - The Dope Show

I love the story of this video. A weird alien coming to earth and becoming a rock star. It's a great statement on our society, and it reminds me of the story of Ziggy Stardust. Which is always good.

7. The Knife - Marble House

I don't really understand what this movie is about, but it's just enchanting, and fits so perfectly to the mood of the song.

6. Patrick Wolf - Wind in the Wires

I guess this video shouldn't be this high on the list, because it's rather slow-moving, but that's why I adore it. It's slow and hautning, and really poerrays a serene pain in a way.

5. Björk - All is Full of Love

It's not my favorite song of hers, but the video is so good. Two lesbian robots having sex. How can you not love that?

4. Hello Saferide - Long Lost Penpal

Again, a very simple video, but I can't help but watch it over and over. I especially love the twist at the end.

3. The Knife - Pass This On

Ah, the absurdity of this video is great. A transvestite performing a song in front of the most unlikely people ever. So sexy!

2. Björk - Hunter

My favorite Björk song, and my favorite Björk video. I love the bald Björk, I lvoe her movements, I love her singing and I love her turning into a bear.

1. Regina Spektor - Fidelity

Now this is the sweetest video I've ever watched. Regina is adorable, when she's walking around the black-and-white apartment, in her adorable black-and-white dress and her imaginary boyfriend. And then comes all the colors and the holding of hands. This is what being in love looks like.

He is pure evil

Aha. I blog. What an unusual event. I have lately found myself with absolutely nothing interesting to do, but somehow I'm still incredibly busy. The thing is, my summer job has been over for several weeks, andI have nothing real to do until I go to Spain in two weeks (seriously panicky feeling over that one), but I manage to fill my days with stuff anyway. But nothing of this is at all intersting enough to put in blogs, and I really have nothing else entertainmentwise to write about. I re-watch Buffy, so nothing new there, I listen to the same old music, so nothing intersting.

One new thing I have to write about, however, is the Buffy comics. I recently started reading them, and they're heaven. It's not as good as the series, obviously, but just to have some new Buffy adventours, written by Joss no less, is just wonderful. The latest issue, starting the Faith arc was awesome, mainly because of Miss Five By Five herself. I can't wait until the next issue is out. Joss has turned me into a comic book nerd, something I never thought possible. :)

---

Today I also saw a movie I thought worth writing about. The movie in question was Rob Zombie's much awaited and highly anticipated Halloween re-make. I have grown to love the original version of the film, with the creepy slow pace, the interesting camera angles, the great acting and the creepiest theme song ever made. The original Halloween is one of the best horror flicks out there, and a real cl@ssic. I therfore was a tad sceptic to the remake. The story doesn't have too much depth, and it would be a really hard thing to make the new version interesting. But oh, did Zombie succeed?

SPOILERS AHEAD

Something that made the original that really scary quality was the fact that Michael was always empty. Pure evil, or darkness or whatever. He was brought up in a good family with loving parents, but there was just nothing inside of him. I was afraid that making him into a real psychopath, with the horrible childhood and terrible parents and all that stuff with the masks and killing of rats would make Michael far too human and therefore less scary. But it really worked. Michael was just as scary as he always was. I loved the first half of the film where we got a glimpse of his life, and his childhood.

Another astounding aspect of the movie was the fact that Zombie managed to keep me at the edge of my seat throughout, even though I've seen the original too many times to count. The main story remained somewhat intact, but he changed enought things to surprise and scare the crap out of you. I loved the fresh feeling of it. It had the feeling of an '80s slasher, but still managed to feel modern. I loved the actors, especially Michael Jr. and his mother, Mrs. Zombie gave awesome performances. Ialso enjoyed Danielle Harris, especially because of her history with the Halloween frnachise, as the star of both H4 and H5.

HERE ENDETH SPOILERS

Overall, I really liked the remake. It was scary as hell, and was its own movie whilst still respecting the original. One of the best horror flicks I've seen in a long time.

Now it's just two weeks until I leave for Spain, and I will be away for a really long time. I'll try do do a farewell blog before I go, and I promise to keep in touch when I'm there, but I can't promise I will be as active as I usually am. Not that I've been the most active person lately, but you know what I mean.

Till next week, Take Care.

If every angel's terrible, why do we welcome them?

Just blogging for the sake of blogging. It's been such a long time since I blogged. I don't know whether it's because of lack of energy or lack of things to write about.

First off, I'd like to mention the wonderful news of the weeks (or last weeks perhaps). First off, Kristen Bell might join the cast of LOST for its fourth season, which is great. She's just what the series needs right now! The second piece of news, that you've probably already heard of, is Ripper. Joss has stated that Ripper, the Buffy spin-off about Giles' life in Britain, post Buffy, will indeed happen. It'll be a short tv-movie that will be released in 2008. I'm so thrilled we finally get more Buffy!!!

Now, I'm also going to continue with the music part of the blog. I haven' really written anything about music in a while, so here it comes:

Extremely Wonderful, and Unknown band of the week:

CocoRosie

CocoRosie is a duo of two sisters, who play very dreamy pop/folk/whatever. Some say it's psychadelic folk, some say it's New Weird America, some say it's Indie. I say it's amazingly wonderful. Their eerie sound is often created with the help of toys, and their weird, childlike vocals are so enchanting. I love them to death, and I would do anything to see them live next week, when they play near my town, but I don't have the money. :(

Favorite Album: Noah's Ark

Favorite Songs: Noah's Ark, Terrible Angels, Japan, Beautiful Boyz...

Some Video Samples:

Noah's Ark

Terrible Angels

Beautiful Boyz (With Patrick Wolf :O )

Next blog, I'll probably do some lists. Either Top Ten Favorite movies at the moment, or Top Ten Favorite Albums at the moment. Until then, I say Buh-Bye!
